a sign of the Gulf's increasing power in the industry, Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said he was confident of a shift in stance in the West that would allow the group to fly more of its planes to airports there.
"We are buying a product from their countries. So why would they not allow us to fly to these airports? If they don't, they can take their planes back," he said.
A group representing U.S. airline pilots, meanwhile, warned that the sale of hundreds of planes to Gulf carriers that compete with U.S. carriers would have "serious consequences for the U.S. economy and U.S. airline workers."

Just seeing if anyone is paying attention........ like it or not this thread hard to read anymore!!!!
The obvious tangent of my post reflects the general feeling out on the line..... mention ALPA, the response "what did we give away this time?"
mention DPA, the "those guys just want to redo the SLI"
the whole DPA/ALPA issue is crazy, and not what we should be focusing on, BTW that govt owned airline in dubai is looking to add a huge number of 380's....
that is the only real issue facing us pilots!!!

Bar, has it exactly right!!
This is important and I dont think DPA is capable of doing what needs to be done now....

I don't hold much hope on ALPA influencing that. Do you?
If for no other reason, THIS is the reason that we need national unity with a voice that is heard. This is deregulation in the final phase... world deregulation... cabotage.... Chuck Shumer wants it. Barry Owebama wants it...
No question, ALPA is best prepared to serve US pilots going forward in this regard. That I know for certain.....

If you don't contact your congressmen and senators over H.R. 3488, then you deserve to get treated like one.
