No, I've got the rocking chair shrink's opinion. Have a number of friends who interviewed with him. They tell me of this part of the interview:
Shrink: What are your thoughts regarding unions?
Pilot: We didn't have them in the military so I'm no expert, but I don't understand the concept of striking.
Shrink: And it's my job to ensure you never do.
As I said earlier, a lot of RD's got past his game...but a significant percentage didn't. I know you don't see it, but many others do. I'm one of them. Maybe we're all wrong.

You know that I generally agree with most of your opinions. But, I have to check you on this one.
From what I can remember in my shrink interview, he asked mostly about my family, their views about me leaving the military and how they felt about me working for the airlines. I can't remember any questions about unions.
Now, my buddy said the first question asked was "How do you feel about your sisters?"
His response was "I love them, but I don't want to sleep with them."
The shrink responded "That's all I've got."
He was hired.
If you had ever seen his sisters, you wouldn't want to sleep with them either.
Carl my shrink was not a dude. SHE didn't even ask a question remotely involving union or union thought. I got the impression the whole test and couch session was to make sure I wasn't a nut job, that I had integrity and was a well balanced individual. But you probably have all the answers. What do I know. I only had first hand experience with it. Btw, I was also on my previous carriers union organizing committee. I'm a south guy too. You need to step back some day from the keyboard and realize some of the stuff you post can be rude and devisive. Why do you think it's appropriate to lump all former dal south pilots into one basket? Prejudice. I fly with a ton of mixed crews. I usually can't tell unless the subject of past lives comes up. Were all just a bunch of type 'A' folks that started out wanting to fly planes. We all took a different path but ended up Delta pilots. ...hopefully one day in unity.

You don't have to read them all. Any post of mine would have shown you I don't lump all fDAL pilots together.

Can you give all of this DPA/ALPA/D-ALPA/pmNWA/pmDAL stuff a rest?
You know, as well as everyone else, that if the DPA was able to call for a vote, and CONFIDENT the vote would pass, that they would've done so by now.
This 'drive' for an independent union has been 'divisive' for this pilot group for almost three years. The 'divisiveness' has been a black cloud over our group for one Section 6 negotiation, & has the potential to be lingering over the heads of our entire MERGED (I don't even F'n know why we're still talking pmNWA/pmDAL BULL$h!t) pilot group during contract openers in March '14.
DPA - It is not going to happen. It's not going to happen. It isn't going to happen. (Appalachian American speak) IT'S AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!
Give it up. I KNOW you have better things to do on your days off, or on an extended layover in NRT than to be staring at a keyboard for hours on end, rebutting someone's rebuttal. It just gets old, doesn't it?

Ha! I had a similar experience. The shrink asked me if my fiancee reminded me of my mom. I said "absolutely. I'll leave it up to you to figure out what that means." Shrink laughed and sent me on my way.

You're one of the poster children for this tsquare. You would never strike mother Delta under any circumstances...exactly what the rocking chair dude was screening for. You go further to say that even talk of a strike is stupid. Then you finish by continually defending Delta pilots trying only for small gains, then defending no net gains as the best we could get.
So I'll say again, it still surprises me that there are such a high percentage of tsquares among fDAL pilots. It's a culture I just don't understand. I know I'm not alone. It's probably the non-union culture at Delta coming through whereby the only union that can survive here is a union that only pretends to be a union.

Carl,
Yup. I can read. Your just being a jerk. I had a 2 hour one on one conversation with Tim Caplinger a few months back. From my previous experience as a union organizer I warned him about loud mouth Internet know it alls. You in particular.
You stereotyped the fdal group as a bunch of tsquares. I see that as a compliment. Tsquare can gather hot cheerleaders together at his command. I'm going to stereotype the north guys now. They, for the most part, are a wonderful group of hard working and professional individuals. Like all groups though, a few outspoken individuals can ruin a good thing.
