No common category because there's nothing in common with the FMS/Nav system. It would be like having a 737/A320 common category.
I was just thinking how many people are trained and sitting around to operate such a small fleet, that's all. Usually with a new aircraft, 5 or 10 show up at once, and ops begin immediately.

I'm not sure of a time when ops began immediately on a new category. usually you've got proving runs to do and you've got to get LCA trained and so on.

Just got to understand how we roll. We pay 4 Billion for regional airlines, another 12 Billion on airplanes, trash one and sell the other for $400 million because there's no future in that; go bankrupt; spin off two more, no future in those either, then see the numbers on the next gen shiny RJ and order $2.4 billion of those, so rush through a pilot contract early giving labor 22% to facilitate a scope change to permit them, but realizing the pilots won't go for that, agree to accept (not acquire) 88 717's, which get hung up on certification of a half century old airframe, which prevents the shiny RJ's from turning a wheel. Meanwhile, acquire another express carrier, which self funds itself through wage concessions while the parent company reports billion dollar profits; have a few hundred $100,000K to $150,000 a year Delta bubbas getting paid to experiment with their facial hair while Pinnacle pilots experiment with applications for government assistance.

From a fleet perspective we're going to park, no, wait, fix, no park, except go fly it back to the TOC, wait, OK, so we fix it next year? Yeah, but we have no pilots on the the MD88 and 757 FO's that are going to the sim for currency, nevermind ... lets hire some pilots.

For instance, the first 30 months on the property involved 5 different airplanes in three different categories ... I voluntarily bid ... once. (and I'm leaving two other changes out of the story since I was reinstated a couple weeks before training)

Happy Halloween

Weren't you paying attention on the dALPA forums? the 7ER isn't a real widebody.

Damn, the Cards charter 7-hour delay is a black eye for Mutha D. Pics all over the news. And of course Shep lingered on them...he's still peeved about Delta scaling down in MEM.

How much did that FUBAR cost Delta in current and future charter pricing power?

What is Delta's MX procedure for a high-profile charter? Delta brags about how profitable charters are. You'd think a high-profile charter would warrant a spare. Especially in the shoulder months.
