Yeah I found out that it is a Zerocare mandate that companies take it out as if everyone is single. If you don't cross the married/joint threshhold, you get a refund... without interest of course. The hits just keep coming with this law...

The New 0.9% Medicare Surtax and 3.8% Tax on Net Investment

0.9% on your paycheck and 3.8% on net investment income.

Can't say he didn't tell you it wasn't coming.

Facts? Proof?

The proof, sir, is self-evident. Why would the company negotiate productivity concessions from us if they didn't intend to use them?

For the company not to exploit the contract would be as silly as DALPA negotiating 4-8-3-3...but then deciding to only take 2-4-1-1.

It's absolutely ridiculous to think the company is not milking every last ounce of productivity they can, and that the effects on us are anything but negative.

Now, are you really going to sit here and claim that we are not being affected--right now--by the productivity giveaways in C2012?

I'm not seeing proof to back your claim. As a lineholder this past summer I was never built a line that exceeded 84 hours of credit. And I fly all domestic. Since the contract has become effective, not once have I exceeded ALV while on reserve. And I'm extremely junior. Bottom 1% of the list. What I am seeing, is the same thing in 2010. Narrowbody categories were continually hammered, GS awards were flowing, and we were hiring. And what's happening now? The same thing.

It's true some categories are more busy then others, and the M88 is one of the most understaffed fleets. Which is why this past AE contained only M88 slots. And the next one will have more M88 slots(30 of the 42 on this AE went unfilled) as well as 717 & 73N slots. Crew Reources has been begging to hire for months.

Do you you know the definition of "self-evident??"

Very well. You think management negotiated for something they're not exploiting.

Thanks.

For those who might be interested, James Taranto's daily column is always informative and entertaining on subjects like the ACA website: Today's issue of Best of the Web Today

Taranto is one of the best. Haven't read this piece yet but have read and relied on him a long time.

One huge aspect of this disaster that has always confounded me...why didn't they just take the time to make it work? A website that's never been beta tested? Really? For something this big? What a CF!!

By 2015 or by the end of 2015? Either way I don't see any growth and significant shrinkage in the non 717 mainline fleet. 70 in a year or two is a massive reduction and the 737's won't make up for that.

Just checked out the new 2.0 forum. Big thumbs down for me. My personal feeling is that some in DALPA are afraid of DPA and thus are afraid of an open rant forum.

I'm not a DPA supporter, but the thing I hate most about ALPA is the way they waste our money trying to "educate" us. I was offended by the pilots tasked to hang out in the crew lounges to sell C2012. Let the damn thing stand on it's own merits! I wasn't satisfied with 4833 (and the reduction in profit sharing to get there), but I voted for it because I didn't think sending the group who gave it to us was going to go back and make any meaningful gains. I certainly didn't need a fellow pilot on flight pay loss in the lounge to tell me what a great deal it was.

Now I hear that Dalpa has a plan to send pilots on flight pay loss around the world to layover bars to defend ALPA. YHGTBSM! I don't know about the rest of ya'll, but this is not how I want my dues money spent. Give the pilots a little credit for having a brain.

I still support ALPA as my bargaining agent, but I am getting close to changing my mind. Are you listening DALPA! If you are the clear best choice for the pilots at DAL, then start acting like it. Give the pilots you are trying to win over a little credit. We didn't end up here because we are stupid.

Now back to the forum. I totally agree that most of the crap that was on Hangar Talk was just that...crap. The problem is that every once in a while there is some really useful information there. I think the open free-for-all format actually fosters a better free exchange of ideas. Is DALPA afraid of that? I heard the argument that most pilots didn't use the forum because of all the crap. Again, give the majority of pilots a little credit. Smart pilots know how to ignore crap. And, they didn't get to this point in their career without developing some thick skin.

We were told that more pilots would visit the new forum. My money thinks less will.

Thanks for listening to my rant.
