I came to the same conclusion.

AE awards... no goodness flowed down below 7ER F/O. No backfilling there means no advancement for 73N, 320, MD88 F/Os. Couple senior F/Os in those cats bid to M88 Capt and were backfilled, congrats to them, but vast majority came from 7ER with no backfill.

While someone will surely come on here and tout the "new capt slots" as a win, in fact this is indicative of the productivity give-aways from the last contract... folks retire at top, so we must move capts to replace them... but we don't hire to replace them, we just shrink by that amount due to productivity gains. Which has nothing to do with 717 hiring, which I'm sure someone will come on and point to as refutation. The hiring SHOULD have been twice what it is, but the pilot position losses from the last TA are being masked by a small hiring for 717 acquisition, which is fooling those unable to break the two events apart from the data stream.

Oh well. At least I didn't move backwards, I think...

Yeah you're right. We should all jump off a bridge somewhere.

You DO realize that a fair number of 757s are going away in the not too distant future. You also realize that they are being replaced with 737-900ers. You also realize that we are getting 88 717s.. which, because they are smaller pay less... So what exactly did you expect?

Agree. Can also put $6000+ pre-tax into the HSA account every year. In YOUR name, and there are some investment options after the account reaches a threshold (can't remember what that is off the top of my head).

You can use that account for any out-of-pocket costs, but you don't have to.

Why would they backfill a bunch of 88FO openings when they can fill them with new hires soon. Saves Delta some training events.

The only issue I see with the HSA is that it is very hard to know how much money you have in there. They dont send any statements and it is nearly impossible to talk to a live person. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

I have been told by our guys that you need $600 in the HSA to invest, but then the HSA people tell me $2000. There needs to be better accountability with this process, otherwise Diamond is good.

PD,

You're exactly right. We will "get 'em next time." And the time after that, & also the time after that.

So, instead of you & Roadkill having this myopic view of how business negotiations work & demanding a 100% pay raise, plus fully funded DB's, "or else." How about you think of the 'idea' (plan) of smaller, more frequent increases, (over the same time period as it would take to be released by the NMB) resulting in your 100% needed pay increase over three, 3-year contracts, versus 0% pay increase over 'stalled' negotiations for 7 years?

GJ

P.S. Make sure you continue to renew your DPA card. By golly George, that organization will 'show us how it's done!'

+1. I think you can invest amounts in excess of a $2000 balance.
