Ditto, sign me up! That is a fantastic looking car.

I decided to postpone the 911 search until I sell off a few more hotrods. My wife is onboard will the Porshe though.

Even still, clip off a corner of your man card for not sizing that pic.

the 996 was considered somewhat of a flop to the true porsche enthusiast, that's why they are so cheap these days.

It would make a great car to drop a Chevy engine into, and that 3.6 would make a cool upgrade for an old SC or something.

Yeah, no kidding. A car that expensive shouldn't have these issues. Like most German cars, they can be too complex, and too expensive to repair. Their driving dynamics are great, though, and their styling is timeless. You won't see me buying a new one; too much money for a weekend toy.

Because of their high cost of ownership, it's not too hard to find a nice low-mileage older Porsche for reasonable money. I use mine 2-3000 miles a year; for that, not much maintenance is required. Having a company out there that installs pushrod V8s in them is a nice plan B if you manage to kill your flat 6.

Wonder why the GM Execs never took the v6 from the Grand National's parts bin.

Because the Grand National came out in the 80s.

The GN was a fast car, but the build quality was absolutely atrocious. I had the somewhat alarming experience of going pretty fast on a straight AZ highway and the closed driver window came out of the track and smashed as it fell into the bottom of the door. The car might have had 3000 miles on it. The car spent more time getting warrantee work done than it did on the road.

Now its a classic. Go figure.

Nah. We just haven't heard of any new/re-instated European destinations.
