I decided to postpone the 911 search until I sell off a few more hotrods. My wife is onboard will the Porshe though.

the 996 was considered somewhat of a flop to the true porsche enthusiast, that's why they are so cheap these days.
It would make a great car to drop a Chevy engine into, and that 3.6 would make a cool upgrade for an old SC or something.

Flat 6 Innovations appears to be a good shop, but, should you really have to spend another $10,000 to $25,000 to fix haphazard sloppy engineering from Porsche on their 100K plus product? The idea that Porsche did shoddy repairs, then installed engines in Boxsters, as factory new or overhauled should raise some eyebrows. :
Because of their high cost of ownership, it's not too hard to find a nice low-mileage older Porsche for reasonable money. I use mine 2-3000 miles a year; for that, not much maintenance is required. Having a company out there that installs pushrod V8s in them is a nice plan B if you manage to kill your flat 6.

How lame can you get? And I am not talking about Biden, I am talking about the car. The Trans Am was my favorite 1970's car with the Super Duty 455 and even the TA 6.6L motor. The turbo 4.9 (above) was a total pig and should have never been made.

The GN was a fast car, but the build quality was absolutely atrocious. I had the somewhat alarming experience of going pretty fast on a straight AZ highway and the closed driver window came out of the track and smashed as it fell into the bottom of the door. The car might have had 3000 miles on it. The car spent more time getting warrantee work done than it did on the road.
Now its a classic. Go figure.
