Sorry to hear that, day in and day out we love our kids, but we need to really treasure the times we share with them too. My condolences.

For anyone curious about our new 737-900ER's, there's a new link on the 737 page on the DeltaNet (click on the airplane picture, assuming you can correctly identify a 737). It has a general rundown on the new plane; very interesting stuff ie: "Magic Lavs"

The performance part is of particular interest. The approach speeds will actually be lower than the 800. The climb performance looks to be about the same to FL 300, then starts to taper off vs. the 800.

The recently announced transcons will be passenger/cargo limited according to the performance notes. Good luck to all non-revs! Oh, and expect an initial max cruise altitude of FL 320.

Interesting report about these jets from Leeham ...
what happened following American Airlines’ order with Airbus. The Delta Air Lines competition was next, and Boeing was determined not to lose that competition–and it didn’t. Market talk says Boeing’s price to Delta was 10%-15% below Airbus’ offer, though this has never been confirmed. We understand there were other considerations besides costs. Regardless, both sides are going to go all-out to win.

SkyTeam partner Alitalia is in severe financial trouble again (they kind of always are).

There really aren't any words to say.
The anonymity of this thread sometimes causes us to lose our perspective amidst the circuitous squabbling. We sometimes forget about what is truly important and matters in life.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss, thoughts and prayers to you and and your family in this tragic, difficult time.

That will be my final cruise altitude. I avoid radiation like the plague.

I'm already having tail strike nightmares.

I'm going to steal a brief from an old 727 captain I flew with back in the day: He would say anything below bug plus 10 is an emergency situation. And, I'll take control of the airplane.

At least you could stop the 727. The gear looks comically (tragically?) small on that huge bird. I'm not sure I'd add too much on anything less than Edwards-sized strips. Gonna be an airplane to fly by the numbers for sure. Systems-wise it looks like they've made a few improvements. But overall, it looks like an accountants' wet-dream of an airplane, which makes it a pilots' nightmare.

And as I said, the west-coast-to-Atlanta/JFK commuters are in for a very troubling development to their career.

Anyone go to the base meeting in DTW? Second hand info says parking 70 757's by 2015. Capt. Graham supposedly stated zero additional pilots will be required for FAR 117 implementation.
