Right- except they do have reserves and they can most certainly schedule OE pretty much anytime they like, so I don't think that is really a problem.

Either way- I'm not sure we peons are actually getting correct info regarding FAA "acceptors" when it comes to delivery of the 717s. Why would the company post a bid pack for the 717 for November when they have no idea whether or not the shutdown will be over by Nov 1? They could just as easily have built the time into the A320 like they did this month and covered "converted" flying via 717 reserves in ATL if/when the appropriate FAA personnel are back on the job (assuming there are actually any people who have to "accept" aircraft that were already performing revenue service a month ago using a different seat design.)

Alfa,
I am truly sorry for your loss. Hugging my kiddos a little tighter and longer after reading of your tragedy. Know that she's in a perfect place and waiting for you with open arms. Till that time, may you find peace and God hold you and your family in his hands. DW

Question to everyone. I've been way out do the loop for quite a long while.

The 737-900's being delivered; are any of them coming with the required equipment that makes them ETOPS able?

Had heard there was a desire to send them to do the "island flying."
No distinction was made between Hawaiian or the beach destinations.

Thanks.

They're ETOPS capable but DAL's not going for the cert yet. As an LA guy watching other airlines do it, I'm in.

Thanks Buzz. Any word on future LAX staffing and additional 73n flying? Looking to finally throw in the ER towel.

IIRC, all 739s are by default etops.

That would be correct sir. Hawaii is in Buzzpat's future.

How many hours is that, out of LAX? Is it about 4:30 or is it more than that? I'm wondering if they will try to fly it as a one day turn, when the rule changes to 9 hours per day.

I'm pretty sure we're going to lose all the good Caribbean layovers as soon as they can fly 9hr. island turns out of ATL.

I am not so sure they will push it that close. The 9hrs will be a hard limit. No more legal to start, legal to finish.

They are going to take a chance on cancellations if that happens. So I will pack a bathing suit, flip flops and t-shirt.
