I still can't believe something as significant as this LOA isn't being put out for memrat. That is terrible.

Less than pleased with the 85% thing, too... I'm interested to see the document promoting... er...marketing...er... giving me details on it.

It was in my email inbox 5.5 hours ago. I decided I was underwhelmed roughly 5.3 hours ago.

Need a copy?

I think it is about time we modify ALPA's policy manual to say that any modification to section one of a contract must be put to a MEMRAT. No more LOAs with scope implications without OUR consent.

VFD = Very Frustrating Device.

Goes along with the systems thumb drive I was sent that was empty, which fine, I wasn't supposed to get a systems "CD".

I hear it flies itself, so you should be fine. It's the latest reduction in the "training footprint"

Which must be why we are growing pilot wise?
Growing? We have lost over 1000 pilots since you were hired. You are entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts.

I'm relatively sure they had their reasons, and will say so. That FO rep in DTW doesn't seem to have any problems expressing himself with what he thinks is funny [Hint: It's not].

Proof that the company knew we were getting the 717 before contract 2012. The 717 has the fly button in the safety video.

Okay, here's a question about that ^^

Say you have 50 763ERs flying 1 leg per day that's 8.1 +/- 0 hours per day, how many pilots do you by rule need flying the jets per day?
8.1 > 8.0, so you need 3 pilots per jet x 50 jets = 150 pilots.
Now let's increase the block hours by a random number like 46.914% or 47%. It'd be an increase of 69,000 block hours per year, 190 per day and it works out to be 11.9 +/- 0 hours per day/leg/crew. How many pilots do you need?
11.9 > 8 but < 12, you need 3 pilots per jet x 50 jets = 150 pilots.
So a 47% increase in block hours per day and per year yields... 0 additional pilots needed.

Okay, how about this, how about add 1 additional jet, to the fleet of 50, flying 8.1 +/- 0 hours per year. How many pilots do you need at a minimum now?
8.1 > 8, 3 pilots per jet x 51 jets = 153 pilots.
So while a 47% increase in block hours gave you a 0 increase in pilots required, 1 jet gave you an increase of 2%. If it was Delta staffing a 765, it'd be like 25 pilots per jet. 1 jet matters.

But all of a sudden the 2012 crowd is smarter than the 2008 crowd and block hour ratios trumps fleet count. Unless you're trying to get me to vote yes on TA 2012, then 88 717s = 1000-1400 pilot jobs no matter how many block hours they fly but at the same time fleet counts don't matter just block hours, please standby as we twist ourselves into a

HND ++++
I believe you are leaving out one important factor in your calculations and that is the ALV.

Here is my greatly simplified calculation....

Assumption: Average ALV for the year is 75 hours a month

75,000 block hours per month would equal 1000 pilots needed.

A 45% increase in block hours would be 108,750 block hours.

108,750 block hours would equal 1,450 pilots needed.

Works the other way too. The amount of aircraft used to fly the block hours is irrelevant.......is it not? Or am I wrong?

Ok. I have. My answer is YES. Do you have evidence to prove otherwise? Look Scambo, this isn't about "me vs you" or anything like that. I just would simply like to see some factual data to back the negative claims. I'm asking people to take the emotion out of this.
