GO VOLS!.....How embarrassing, and the other guys were wearing Big Bird suits...
Hey T, was that a track meet or a football game ?
One cure for the 30 hour layover would be the split duty "stand-up" trips, but that would have be be negotiated.
I can't see trips being more productive. With the hard limits on block hours and flight duty period plus the 10 hours min rest, I'd bet domestic pilots will unfortunately be working more days a month.

Giving up stand-ups/illegals would be a major concession. It'll be like the 5-day trips. Commuters say they want them but really the junior people and reserves get stuck with most of them.
There are a lot of ways to get away from the 30 hr layovers. Doing illegals is a horrible idea.

(1) Safety - fatigue
(2) Safety - a lot of nontowered airport stuff
(3) Safety - Temp / Dewpoint spread at it's lowest, more diverts
(4) Safety - some sort of compensatory rest + limitation on how many could be scheduled.
(5) Min time behind door (6:00 makes these doable with an afternoon nap)
(6) PAY -
Daily credit applied calendar day, or
ALV + if line of CDO's = < ALV
----
If we are going to recover express type flying, this is the type flying a lot of them do.
Just some ideas.

We need to get to the bottom of this..
92 757's are going to the desert or 92 are in the fleet plan to remain?
How soon?
How soon are the DC9's going away?
How many MD90's are still to join us?
Does anyone know what is our 787 delivery schedule?
Thx

They could be made to work, but, would require a lot of thought and negotiation to be done safely and pay well enough. Considerations:
(1) Safety - fatigue
(2) Safety - a lot of nontowered airport stuff

Meanwhile, the passengers ride DCI flown by crews on their third consecutive 'standup' consisting of a 3 hour each-way flight to and from a mountainous outstation, with 4 hours at the hotel. If that isn't a double-standard...
