While a smaller category, the distribution on the Atl 320 is routinely similar to that.

Bluto,

No Pilot should be abused. A reserve Pilot flying 12-15 days for 80 hours is not abuse. If you can come up with a way that no pilot ever feels abused, I am all ears.

I don't really see the value in you keeping up with downplaying what's happening...

By the way, do you really believe there are reserves getting 80 hours in 12 days? Especially with the reduced trip pay for reserves..

Don't forget that reserve pilots sit short call and don't get "compensated" for it. One month this summer I flew 13 days, sat 4 short calls (1 of which ended up in a trip, so 3 SC without flying) for a total of 16 days of "work" for 77 hours of flying.

There was not one work day of the month where I wasn't starting SC, ending SC (24 hour SCs because I'm on the 7ER) or on a trip.

For 80 hours of pay.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I've been a line holder for a few years and 16 days/77 hours is pretty much an average month.

Buzz,

I will say though that there are a lot of people who disagree with your first two statements. As I mentioned before, over the years, my health care costs have skyrocketed and my coverage has gotten worse. (With the exception of the last two years.)

I would also take exception to your second paragraph, but to explain why, it would get too political. I guess we will have to save that one for a discussion at the local watering hole (drinks are on me.), or I can PM or email you if you are interested. The articles I posted should offer an insight on what I'm talking about though.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one. But, I do appreciate the respectful discussion. That's why I like APC way better than the D-ALPA forum. This discussion over there would have degenerated into a name-calling contest long ago. While we do have a few on here who go nuts at the sight of one anothers names, for the most part, this is a good place to speak your mind.

Thanks - I haven't held a line in years, so I don't know how that compares. Scoop implied that reserves were flying 12-15 days and getting 80 hrs - in the winter we don't work as much, true.

iaflyer,

I was going by the analysis that Gunship did in his category. I am not advocating one way or another. I personally think the system is working pretty well and like it, but if it can be shown that it is not working well lets improve it.

My category is pretty small and usually pretty slow, Line holders WS a lot all of the open time.
