Well if they always use full length 27R and go to LAX.... I know. I know.

There is no replacement for the 75- but the 75 line died thanks to the 738 for capacity and 737-7 for performance. Was that smart on Boeings part? I don't know, doesn't seem like Boeing has been hitting home runs after the 777 rolled out.

I don't know about the active just, but since the ISL was released we have lost around 1000 pilots. But due to hiring in 2010, the net loss is less then 1000 pilots.
I'm a pragmatist, agree with your comments, just don't get all giddy over the growth stuff reference the 717/MD's. I was flying Capt. 5 yrs ago and might be able to hold the "new" DC9 again.

So with all these growth 717's, MD90's , etc. why is it the seniority list keeps shrinking? Why hasn't your percentage on the seniority list keep pace with all of the retirements?

I think even ATL/DTW to the West Coast on the -900 will be fine. It's the NYC-West coast that will be a stretch... but with the conversion of 757-200s to the lie-flat seating will take care of that market.

While I personally think it's a step backwards in the cockpit, I think the economics will be fine and fill lots of roles in which the 757-200 are too much airplane (performance wise) right now.

Guys, we're already doing BOS, JFK, RDU, ATL, MCO, TPA and MIA to LAX on the -800. The -900 is not going to be blazing any new territory in that regard.

Yeah, but maybe it wont have the limitation which prohibits day VFR operation.

Or maybe it is just my observation that the -700 never operates during daylight hours and the -800 only flies occasionally in the sun. Every time I see them move they depart at 22:00 and stop at 05:30. If they are still flying at 06:30, then they are required to be in holding awaiting a clearance to an airport with a wet runway.

Southwest operates theirs during the day which must mean they bought off somebody with Pizza and Booze.

But you're wrong about setting records. We'd have a shot at setting a land speed record with a heavy -900 at SLC.

Does the 900 carry more than 48,800 fuel and have better than 27k engines?

I don't know, I don't have the CD yet.

But Alaska is flying them to Hawaii, so I'd guess yes.

I know your comment was tongue in cheek, but I'm curious - what's the tire limit of the -900? It's not uncommon for us to push up against that limit in the Summer in the -80. Of course, I fly for an ULCC. What could possibly go wrong?
