Re. the USAir/AA merger, I thought the Airline Industry was Deregulated in 1978! Since then, EVERY major has been bankrupt, undercutting each other's prices with too much capacity in the system to turn a profit. The price of Oil has gone up about 500% since 1978, yet passengers can still buy a ticket from Boston to FLL for $200, just like I did in 1985!

It's amazing to me that the DOJ hasn't got a problem with the oil industry's consolidation, or lack of competition, or the BILLIONS in profit they rack up every year! When is the last time BP was worried about going bankrupt?

Yet now that the majors are FINALLY making money, the DOJ is all over it. Not enough competition?! Spare me!

Fking politicians. I'm guessing Dougie and Andy haven't been paying enough to the 'right people' in DC to win DOJ approval.

Ain't that the truth. When did our government turn into organized crime?

This government is arrogant and deluded enough to think it can competently administer the nation's health care, a system of vast complexity--far more complex than your questions above.

I'm sure this enlightened and benevolent government will have no problem thinking it is qualified to quickly dispose of those comparatively simple issues you raised.

That doesn't answer my questions.

IMO, your question isn't answerable without a few shoes dropping. Shoe #1 cabotage. Shoe #2 foreign ownership. Shoe #3 all hell breaks loose.

agreed.

The one thing about deregulation is how deregulated are you if you have to have your operations, airplanes, pilots, procedures, maintenance, et. al. approved by the government?

Looks like the DOJ, just reading the complaint, is saying consolidation = collusion.

And as to how you break it up as J29 asked? Well, not to unlike how the DOJ is telling AMR to break up their hold on DCA. Give us a plan and we'll approve it if we like it.

BTW, I'm just tossing this out there as food for thought, nothing more.

So I tried to be a good boy (far right),

and read my B717 VOL 2 cover to cover. I got stuck a few pages in when I realized how much time, 3 pages, was being dedicated to how the toilet works.

As you read: "A toilet assembly is in each lavatory. The toilet assembly is installed behind a removable shroud. It is a self-contained line replaceable unit with electrical and plumbing connections. The toilet includes the following:
• A toilet bowl
• A Flush Control Unit (FCU)
• A flush valve
• A rinse water valve"

And it goes on and on about the flush control unit. Then you get to the Logic Control Module. Yes, it has one and it gets its own header on the page. But it uses 28 VDC power to operate 2 channels. I know right. Duh.

Then there is the 3-phase 115 VAC blower control relay and it bullet points the 3 reasons that system energizes which includes being below 16,000', service panel door is closed and wait for it, the thermostats in the vaccum blower do not sense a blower motor over temp.

And this is all before we get to the ultrasonic level sensors.
