States (AZ, FL, TN?, VA, PA) and a nuther country are involved in this whole thing (TX).

One of the things they have specifically mentioned is the 67% of departures at DCA. But the problem with some of those departures (FTB eye balling it here) is that it's a bunch of CRJ200s to places that probably don't need the service to begin with but get it because like LGA there is someone State or Congressional regulator demanding it. According to AMRair they'd have 67% of the departures but only 25% of the seats... in DCA/IAD/BWI. That's kind of big area. But I wonder what the seat make up would be? I mean we plug a full 88/90 in there every 30 minutes it seems.

I say limit DCA and LGA > 100 seats and drop the range limits but that's a different shoot from the hip reactionary on my part story.

Maybe SWA and DAL aren't apart of this, but they have a vested interest. I just wonder how the DOJ gets a way with it after not just allowing DAL/NWA to merge or UAL/CAL, but SWA/FL which gave SWA BWI all to itself.

Honestly, I don't remember going over it to begin with. That doesn't me we haven't. But as I said before, I think we are actually in agreement. I certainly wasn't accusing you of pulling up the ladder.

I apologize for directing my rant at you.

No problem. And yes, we are in agreement at times more than you may think (but not always). The "again" comment was in reference to a different subject with similar circumstances/responses, hence my frustration again.

The pulling up the ladder comment was just a pre-emptive strike in case that or something similar was thrown out by somebody (seen it before), not referencing you. My bad on that not specifiying.

Here's something from the complaint by the Department of We Only Uphold Laws We Want Justice:

Complaint 1. They don't want only 3 legacy carriers... because... http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ed...post&p=1461866

Complaint 2. Less competition as service is cut... and here's why less service scares them...

Complaint 3. "This merger will leave three very similiar legacy airlines - Delta, United and the new America-- that past experience shows increasingly prefer tactic coordination over full-throated competition." i.e. service drops but nobody challenges the market, monopoly, prices increase.

I think the bastards are on to us.

Just had to one up you 80!

I didn't include the 2 days off I had since 16 july... That would boost me to over 109 hours since then!

I'm up to 55 hours above other reserves.

Well I've got to go fly a 90. After flying the 90 a bit, I feel like this when I get an 88...

Sure the 88's slipstream and P-factor causes excessive rolling, but the 90 is a pitchy airplane. I mean pitchy with a B. And the AC works in the 88. Yeah... I know what I just said.

...because they're the DOJ. "you can't fight city hall" y'know.

We had a USAir (west) jumpseater riding with us the other day and I asked him how it was going, he had a pretty rosy view of the whole thing (I'm sure this has soured it somewhat) and he said that DP (Dougie) had gone to D.C. recently to try to proactively address the DCA divestiture and his message was along the lines of "we will divest, but it will be routes to smaller cities that won't then have any service". Sounded a bit like some hardball on his part, and apparently (today's news tells me) some of the folks there didn't like it much.

How to merge the SC situation in with the buckets and amount of flying is the tricky issue IMHO.
Quite simple- those in a lower bucket get short call before those in a higher bucket.

This airline is industry leading in commuting issues, IMO.

Just a differing opinion, which I know won't be popular.
I'm not advocating getting something just for commuters. I am trying to show that there is a value to the company in having pilot's commute. I think in the past, (probably way back in the past)the union has utilized negotiating capital for the ability to commute. What used to be a perk to the pilot group has now been turned on its head, it is a perk to the company.

I think DP has been feeling a bit entitled since every other recent merger has been approved. This is just his most recent smack down. This will give the GVT. leverage and the consumer will feel the government is keeping a watchful eye over the airline biz. In the end, I believe it goes through after DP learns/knows his role. Just keep the guy away from the bottle tonight!
