Richard Anderson has been overheard before when he was still at NWA as advocating the outsourcing of everything below the 757. Your current NWA EA was the source for those quotes, although I'm sure others have heard it as well.
I hope you get over that deer in the headlights looks quick enough to get out of the road when the real NERD management show their colors.
Ah shuck's, y'all will probably think it's a flashlight and it's the friendly farmer offering you a salt lick......

Northwest Executives Running Delta
Here's a guy whose last 3 threads on our forum
1. Tries to restart a red-green divide with misinformation and conjecture, and
2. Tries to insinuate that a codeshare that his pre-merger company brought was "new AK outsourcing", and
3. Writes "JFK Roadshow-DCI to get bulk of LGA flying"
He gets a free pass on insulting the south with a salt lick comment while stirring up the premerger North Roberts divide. I get a "watch my tone."
Fair and Balanced....NOT! Nothing he's printed so far has been accurate, but it sure is divisive.
Hey, lets examine his NERD comment regarding the Corporate Leadership Team:
1. Anderson: UHC via NWA
2. Bastian: Delta
3. Campbell: Delta via Continental
4. Gorman: Krispy Creme/Greyhound, previous NWA
5. Hauenstein: Delta via Continental
6. Dickson: Delta
7. Charaff: Delta
There's nobody in the Executive operational chain of command that came directly from NWA. 5 of the top 7 have never been at NWA. Looking at the Delta Board, a small minority came from NWA. An equal number are pre-bankruptcy Delta directors.
As far as the 757 comment, I wasn't there, and it was at least 6 years ago, prior to pay resets and bankruptcies. But lets look at the actions. On Anderson's watch we've taken delivery of 10 737-700, a few MD-90's and 17 757ER's. We've still got A319's and 737's on order, and a target of 40-50 MD-90's according to Gorman. Doesn't look like that rumor pans out either.

Can you do the math for me?
1. How many 76 seaters were allowed under the pre-merger DAL and NWA contracts. You can use the fleet sizes when the merger was announced, if you like.
2. How many total 70-76 seaters were allowed under the pre-merger DAL and NWA contracts?
Thanks!

And while we are on the topic of tone, what does everyone think of Elixr strings. The nanoweb technology is supposed to offer longer life, but are they as crisp?
And what of Carbon Fiber compared to Rosewood and how do those Bose line array PA systems sound?
We can turn this place into Harmony Central. Those are the "tone" topics everyone fights about over there.

I would feel better if out MEC was more in tune with the pilots and a little less in tune with the 4th floor.

Slow,
It is true that some inaccurate information gets posted, but it is usually challenged and corrected fairly quickly, sometimes by you, sometimes by others. Lets hope that continues.
There is a lot of frustration out there, and not just at DAL, but all of the legacy carriers. I was hired in early 2000 and don't have much more bidding power than I did when 911 hit. From our point of view it really looks like the legacy carriers basically want to become to an extent, "virtual" airlines. You mentioned a few aircraft orders but how many have been parked and not replaced?
Our fleet is getting older by the day. We don't have any spare cash for new mainline orders (with the few exceptions mentioned) but have spent hundreds of millions on RJs. The economy is in the tubes - we realize and understand that. DALPA cannot wave a magic wand and have the “mainline fairy” deliver more equipment.
What frustrates me, and I don’t think that I am alone, is that our union leadership does not seem bothered by all of our outsourcing. I am sure that most of our union guys are not happy about it, but all seem unwilling to say, "Yes we know the DCI situation sucks and we are looking at it." I can't say one way or another, and I hope I am wrong, but Lee Moak certainly appears to not want to upset the RJ crowd. Why? Maybe I am totally wrong - I hope so. Maybe there are legal reasons - it could be. Maybe Lee has other long range plans - well if he does that is a personal choice that he is entitled to, but I sure hope union politics is not influencing his actions one way or another.
