Purple drank is correct.
The day after a vacation you cannot be required to report for any trip before noon.
Section 23.S.2.a.5
So the earliest short call they could give you is 10 AM.
Also, there is no "last non-fly day schedule check" required on vacation.
Basically what that means is you go on long call at midnight. You can look at your schedule earlier than that if you want and acknowledge anything on there. If you see a short call for the next day at 10 AM and you choose not to acknowledge it then you can expect a midnight phone call.

1. Publically it would look terrible if DAL was profiting and furloughing while most other major airlines were making money and hiring.
2. When a company furloughs the union of pilots (properly so) becomes less productive. They don't pick up open time readily and fire away at green slips like we see today.
3. If you agree with #2 then would you agree DAL may actually be ahead by not actually furloughing all of us in these times of such sever over manning? They maintain status quo without rocking the boat. They don't have to retrain hundreds of FO's and publically they save face.
These are crazy thoughts but I thought I might pose a bit different slant at our current situation. Thoughts?

The company blasts a robo-call asking anyone interested in an IA to call them back.
Guy calls skeds and says "sure, I'll do it" for double pay, and it doesn't apply to his GS count.
Except for FTB's jetway assignment scenario (gosh, that would suck)...if you don't want to fly an IA, don't answer your phone when you're not contactable. I bet most guys who get IAs are thrilled. Or they wouldn't have answered their phones (or called back to take the trip).
