I figure I am going to be on reserve and stay on reserve for a while no matter which aircraft I get assigned to. No problem and happy to be on board but with that in mind I am leaning toward the ER if I have a choice.

Also, I am going to be living in northwest Florida for at least another year. This is going to leave me with a double hop commute to New York. Will I be able to sit long call reserve from Florida or do I need to be in the crash pad in NYC?

Thanks for the info.
Being in the last class means you will not have much movement until we start hiring again, and there are AEs. The AE in May is for 777 backfill only, so if you are in NY you will be there for a year or so. You will pick based upon the last 4 of your SSN. Lately, all the ATL AC were gone in the top 50-60% and the bottom folks got the NYC ER and NYC 88.
You have to have a crash pad in NYC. IMO there is NO way you can commute to NYC out of the panhandle. It's going to be a challenge to get to ATL!!!! VPS has mostly RJs.
So..Id move to NYC so you won't be competing for a JS with the rest of us out of VPS and PNS :-)
But seriously....the double commute will require you to go up the day prior, sorry to say.

Has anyone gotten a class date as of late? I have been cleared to train for over a week now and haven't heard anything.

I have a friend who commutes to NYC (he's on the ER) out of Jacksonville and he somehow does it without a crashpad. PM me for his number, he's very knowledgable about the system and how to work it. As for class calls, as of 2 days ago, I believe there were still some calls going out for the May class.

Thanks guys. Anything out of ATL would be great and my first choice. I think I will be near the middle so not sure if it will be available. Is it possible to request a reserve schedule where you sit all of your time in a row. Seems like that might be preferable than having to spend the days commuting up to NYC twice or more a month.

Also, would it be easier to commute to CVG?

Your reserve schedule is a line of time built by the company. It usually runs 5 on, 3-4 off, etc. What a lot of folks do is try to get trips by green slipping (goes by seniority). Then, you keep doing that until you fill up for the month, and they move all your off days to the back end of the month.

PM me - I am going to be working at HRT at OGO in about 3 weeks and can give you more info.

The current reserve system is going to change. Currently you bid lines of time that are preconstructed by the company. It will switch next year to a system where you bid much like PBS for the exact days you want. Lots of details are still being worked out.

+16 hr long call would be nice, or positive space long call.
