More times than I care to admit I start thinking we have a fire in the airplane, only to realize, they're burning something in the oven of the 88.

This will just require small incremental changes to our scope. It'll be an "improvement".
DALPA has everything under control.
There's no dots. Flight Ops management said the last bid was the last of the big displacements. This latest 100 displacements off the 7ER is just a technical adjustment. Its a clean up bid. Happens all the time.

Pay no attention to those whiners on the Internet forums.
There's no need to over-react. Wind the clock you silly pilots.

oh I don't know what I'd say if I actually had someone say that to me, it'd take everything to keep from laughing.

Thanks Carl. I have always appreciated our "discussions" too. You make very convincing arguments and have also caused me to re-evaluate my position on certain topics. I'm glad we can have a lively discourse back and forth! I hate it when conversations degenerate. Between us it has never happened and it is greatly appreciated.

FWIW I'm 4 days into 73N Normal Requal as of today. We started with 201 the first day with no esv event.

Our curriculum outline shows "Operational Systems Validation (SV) “oral” covers 737NG limitations, memory items, and walk-around slides. ". This is right before the 841 event - the DGS guy is going to quiz us on walk around slides, lims, and memory items.

Have your distance learning complete for day 1 with 2 copies of your completion printout and you should be good to go.

I'm just tired of guys bashing DALPA for accomplishing MORE outside of a strike than other groups have accomplished within one. For example, we got rid of our B scale in conjunction with establishing pay rates for the 777 and 767-400....
I just don't think it's necessary to defend DAPLA by downplaying what the Northwest pilots did with the 1998 strike. If you don't think this is trivializing it.....

.....fair point....it's misrepresenting the outcome of it. As I recall, as a result of it, we DID get rid of the B scale. That was huge back then and probably a large part of why you guys were able to do it as well.

I don't disagree with what you are saying. DALPA has done some good things. But, so has Southwest, UPS, FED Ex, United, & Continental. The advances all seem connected to me. Didn't you guys get the rates you got in 2001 because of the rates United got in 2000? Isn't it possible that UAL got those rates in 2000 because their management didn't want to deal with what NWA had to deal with in 1998?

Instead of elevating how DALPA did as compared to others, (and/or being critical of them) maybe you should just let their achievements rest on their own. Like I said, it just seems disrespectful.

At which point he'll be crapping in your entire career.

Age 70 rule: First order of the day, change uniforms to baggy jumpsuits and soft, squishy shoes.. Oh, and big wrap-around sunglasses. Clever saying ball caps optional... i.e. my grandson flies for GO-JET.

It wasn't meant to be disrespectul, and I agree that we have all contributed (or unfortunately, also at times regressed) collectively. Many guys forget that our C2K rates were piggy-backed on UAL's C2K rates...which were themselves derived from what they called the "Delta Dot" which was a line drawn from the DAL 737-800 rates up to the 777 rates...and our 737-800 rates ($190/hr back in 1997 or 98) were themselves piggybacked on AA pilots getting $186/hr for it prior to that!

IOWs, old guy airline flight suits. Can I put in a vote for a wide white belt and white vinyl (lillian vernon) vinyl shoes? The employee parking lot will be full of buicks and mid 90's full size cadillacs. Peachtree City can start a doublewide community with a community center. We can have discussions about liver spots and angina.

I said angina.
