Exactly my point re: LGBP. how do you sell a newbie on coming to DAL vice UAL if he has that difference over the course of a career to compare? Financial planning 101.

A similar trajectory wipes out any pay advantage if it isn't front loaded. TVM and all that.

Yup. And since the MEM politicos have been courting SWA for all these years, they got their wish.

Thanks George. I found it and the downward trend continues. The last report showed 10,491 pilots and this one shows 10,446.

I was discussing the disappearance of the 737-200 though. 156 of them in 2000 and 0 around by the time we had 255 CRJ-700/900/E170/E175s flying around. FWIW, except for the E170s those other airplanes are according to wikipedia longer than the 732.

Three questions:

1. If regional flying YOY is decreasing, why then did we bother allowing more jumbo RJs in exchange for 717s and fewer CRJ-200s if they were going to go away anyways? We haven't gotten any 717s yet, so no new super premium regional jets are allowed, so no reason to drop 50 seaters unless they were not wanted anyways and/or we could live without them anyways, right?

2. DCI decreasing, what about jumbo RJs, did they decrease? Did they break that out?

3. Related to question 3, if for some reason they're cutting or reducing jumbo RJ use... is that a bad sign for our management team to purchase expensive new RJs and then not use them while turning around and ordering 70 more in December 2012 ? http://seattletimes.com/html/busines...ombardier.html
I'm going to beat the jumbo and super premium jumbo RJ drum until at least C2015.

Default Killing Trees

Brushing up a little bit for CQ. I have the following books open to work through ONE scenario :

1. DIG
2. FOM
3. Vol 1
4. FCTM
5. MEL/TOPP
6. QRH
7. FCTM Addendum
8. Vol 2
9. ODM

It really is incredible that we need to have this many books open to work through a scenario. I can't wait until we get tablets to store all this stuff - there's not enough glareshield space to organize everything. Maybe you Airbus guys have room to lay all this out, but for us mere mortals, it's like sorting through the stock room at Amazon...

Fuel dump valves. Back up hydraulics. Manual control flight control handles. Winglets. GPWS warnings at FL 300. "Say, I love you, Trevor." Squirrel shots. John Goodman.

Don't do it.

What link are we talking about? Has anybody bothered to read the latest Crew Planning News that came out a couple hours ago?

The pilot block hour info SF has been posting doesn't seem to jive what Crew Planning is saying.
