Come on man, we only paid $1.4Billion for 9 gates. It was a steal!

Question for the reserve Gurus. I'm senior in the 6 day bucket and I have a yellow slip asking to go 1st out for the nice 3 day Europe trips and Aruba. If one comes up will I get it or will it to to a junior pilot who is in the 3 day bucket? Assuming no one white slips it. Yeah Yeah, I know, it will go via white slip

Just as I was pressing the "quote" button through the other side of the screen you went and answered your own question.

The new addition looks like the old terminal and the old terminal looks like the new addition. At least we got rid of terminal 3 so all in all its a huge upgrade. I wasn't sure who came up with the idea of glueing a fly to the wall of each urinal. Good target practice but couldn't knock it down.

If we can get the domestic 76 category reverse reinstated so guys can use their seniority to do that instead of using their seniority to avoid intl in the first place we'll really be cooking with gas!

And if we really get short, we can let retired pilots come back.

So what are the details on that new Seattle Flow Through?

Gloopy,

I believe I am sensing a little sarcasm here, but the issue bolded above seems to come up quite often. Before a junior guy gets anywhere near ALV he will be in bucket 2 at a minimum if not bucket 3 and the senior guy will still be in bucket 1.

Said it before but here goes again - "Any difference in flying greater that 1 buckets worth occurs despite the bucket system - not because of it."

Are you a short buck with low pressure? It sounds like a personal problem to me.

I knew I was setting myself up for that when I wrote it. If you can knock it down then you are a better man than me

Here's a shout out to Johnson29 who was in my Jumpseat this morning. We solved the airline's problems in 1+03 enroute time!

Scoop
Scoop,

Been in Bucket two, converted to short call and used anyway LOTS of times. I don't pay attention, or care about, the buckets because it certainly appears the schedulers are able to manipulate the system so easily anyway. They just let the trip sit until it is <12, >10 convert and assign it anyway. Double all nighters seem to particularly follow this formula because of the later DI times.

Of course, been converted out of SC plenty of times too.

With the nearly unlimited ability to deal and withdraw SC, the bucket system really does not matter as much as everyone says it does. If they want to give their buddy the great 4 day and send you on the double red eye, might as well pack your bags without your sunglasses.

With all the walking involved in that place, I think they want us all to stay in shape and those who can't stay in shape to retire.

My first flight out of there, after all the walking I did just to make it from curbside to ops, to the gate then finally to the cockpit, I almost cried when I thought I left my coffee at the podium. I normally workout when I get to my layovers. Now, when flying out of JFK, it looks like I will get one before we take off every time.
