Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I'm very curious about an out of the blue AE 2-3 months earlier than advertised and dropped with no notice.
If its another staffing neutral "funding" then where exactly are the "excess" pilots coming from? After this last AE we're just not fat enough for another self funding AE anywhere unless its coming from accelerated parking or under-utilization somewhere else.
The 717 from the last bid still has unfilled positions because they couldn't draw down from other fleets. If this one is self funding it would have to be an extremely myopic targeted "one from here, two from there" and even then what's the reasoning behind the sudden accelerated no notice AE dropped on us 2-3 months before the one they were going to do anyway?
The timing of this one really makes it look like we're either going to hire soon or keep shrinking to profitability.

Known Leaves of Absence - KLOA for July 2013
Pilots have the opportunity to be awarded a half month or full month of unpaid leave of absence....
Pardon the interruption, but could you guys/gals help me refresh my memory?
If I'm on short call the last day of a block of reserve do I automatically get released at 1200? My first day off is an 'XX' not a '**' day. Thanks!

Again, would they be actively promoting LOA if they were getting ready to hire? Doesn't add up. I'm going to go with B. Shrinking more to profitability. In the mean time we are setting ourselves up to get toasted by the new AA and UAL and some others.

That said, I think we have to logically default to the negative assumption until proven otherwise. Why drop a suprise early AE like this? The timing of this makes it seem like its a much bigger deal (either way) than we're being steered to believe.
Either that or someone is bonus mongering trying to show some fake transient paper "savings" by defraying the small cost of hiring spool up by another quarter or so and instead shifting that cost (or greater cost) onto the different budget of internal training churn with existing assets. Maybe someone told someone "look when I look under this cup I don't want to see the rock, so make sure the same rock is under the cup right next to it and we're cool."
Unfortunately you're on the hook till end of your SC, not 1200.

[Pilot trying to figure out what management is going to do.]
But, here's a thought...
If you just made a decision to keep 320's and/or buy 321's, and 330's to arrive in short order, and you just had an AE where you displaced a lot of 320 and 330 pilots, why not put out a new AE with the quickness so those guy's & gal's can use their reinstatement rights don't have to go to training?
Disclaimer:
That thought only makes sense if a lot of the displaced pilots, from the last AE, haven't started training yet.

Like I said, this makes sense if we're about to hire, or if we just keep shrinking. It could go either way.

CQ question? I have 3 days of recurrent training next month and with the new contract it is not considered an "absence" against reserve days. Do they just pay you your 11:15 training pay on top of the months reserve guarentee and have you on reserve for the 18 days on call? Thanks in advance for any responses.
