True. That's a major reason I voted no on C2012 as well- we were giving things up for something that was going to happen anyway. Mgmt has recently stated they only plan on having 100 CRJ-200s in the system, which is even less than both required and previously projected.

If there is another economic disaster you might be right. However if what you say is true then it will mean that Delta is in deep economic trouble and perhaps on the verge of a shutdown. That kind of reduction in total system block hours would equal the cuts of the last 12 years and then some for the mainline to see a reduction. If you honestly believe that then you should be hard at work on a plan B.

And apparently going bonkers with 50 seaters was pretty smart after all....with our help they are using them as negotiating capital to ramp up outsourcing 2.0 with DC9 sized RJ's. Our union don't wanna fly dem small frys anyways....besides they feed our hubs which leads to huge mainline growth

How about this rumor. I've heard it from more than one place.
Delta is going to run a category within a category in the ATL 76. It seems that they are having trouble keeping everyone theater qualified. So, they are going to divide the category into international with theater qualifications and a second group, now wait.....domestic only.
How brilliant is that? I hear that DALPA is cool with the arrangement.
No idea how they will handle reserves.

ACL, we can do that already by using "Avoid Layover in..." and then list the cities (ie. Theaters) you don't want to fly to. I've been using it for years to avoid China and Lagos. Are some guys just too lazy to list all the cities in each theater? I guess the PBS programmer could group them by theater with a few more lines of code....

They are pigs. The winglets are supposed to help but even the A320 struggles in the winter on transcontinental ops. JetBlue made national news for selling nonstops that were constantly making fuel stops a few years back. Neither the 737-900Er or the a321 work in all markets as a 757 replacement. That is why Delta plans on keeping a significant number of 757's in service into 2024.
Every other airline will have to get past us.
Great for former ATR pilots, although the Douglas jets do E130 speeds.
