I'm fairly sure the company's position is that there is nothing to be understood about any type of slur -- except, maybe that they are wrong.
I'm sure there is something written down somewhere about them not being tolerated, as well. That's regardless of if you know the person who heard you say it is part of the "group" or not.
Your two hundred and thirty one year old quote sounds good, but it really doesn't apply in this situation. Jefferson dealt with a lot of things, but he never had to share a flight deck with his neighbor for 7+ hours at a time.

It is my opinion that others have a right to their opinions, even if I don't care for their opinion. IMHO someone should not be so thin skinned as to run to HR, especially when we spend 7+ hours working together.
I don't know how things worked at f-NWA, but many f-NWA employees expressed concern about constantly being written up. I can not tell if you advocate such a thing or not from your post.
Our employer has to have a much stricter policy, which is understood. My not being offended does not mean I am not compliant, it just means that I'm not bothered by any of the two extreme views expressed.
An ALPA member should not go after an ALPA member. We have internal resolution mechanisms which assume we all have job we want to keep.

Just want to clarify something for you as you always seem to have misconceptions about NWA. I never wrote up, known anyone written up, nor heard of it amongst the pilot ranks at NWA. FAs and CSAs may have. Any issues that we (pilots) had were handled via pro-stans or between the pilots themselves.
newKnow,
