Reserve Green Slip Question.
I'm doing a one day green slip from DTW to DCA. It is blocked for 1.35 hrs with .25 hrs for DPM (Duty Period Minimum). My time card shows Greenslip pay of 2.0 hrs.
Does the 4:30 minimum apply to greenslips? Thanks.

This is 2013 folks, get over it already. And at a little Airline with the initials DELTA AIR LINES. I'm not even going to bother saying, um that's slightly inappropriate anymore. I'm just going to turn your a$$ into HR. Amazing how many left seaters can be all nicey nice when the cockpit door is open and as soon as it closes feel free to go in a homophobic rant. Tired of the ignorance.

Your own advice.
A lot of what's called homophobia isn't. Perhaps bigotry is a better way to describe some peoples' reactions to having a somewhat organized group aggressively force their sexual opinions on them. Venting is mostly a reaction to observations like the nude male bag tags I've seen on a NY Based A line's luggage and our corporation's own sponsorship of a program which sends adults to middle schools to talk to children about sexuality. Where I come from both are highly inappropriate, but are accepted.
Two wrongs don't make a right. In fact, two wrongs on the flight deck is likely a violation, or a safety event. I prefer the Braves to the Yankees and some years I am passionate about that distinction, but, I could care less as long as that other pilot speaks up at the right time to keep us both out of trouble.
IMHO, hypersensitivity to anything is an invitation to distraction. I keep my scope issues here on a web board. I invite you to do the same with whatever issues you might have a particular concern about. This is a better place to fix the World's problems than a flight deck, or heaven forbid with HR.
I strongly believe it is wrong to try to harm a fellow pilot because your opinions are different from theirs ... and at the end of the day, what you describe is a matter of opinion; two extreme views on what is unacceptable behavior.

But, ER's latest posts were about a guy using insulting slurs, which equates to more than an opinion, if the slurs are associated with a group he belongs to. Going straight to HR forces an issue to potentially a career-ending level when maybe just a minor behavior/attitude adjustment would have done the trick. Even if the guy is an a-hole I would give him the professional courtesy of allowing him the opportunity to clean up his act via a more constructive avenue than suspension/termination.
No excuse for hating on your coworkers, but its quite possible the guy was just venting/having a bad day. Should he endure a career altering event for that? Or can we put forth just a little effort to protect/educate our own (even if we don't agree with their worldview)?
Take care of each other. Next time it might be you or me that needs a little compassion - even if we don't necessarily deserve it.

My lawn mower has a vertical crank shaft which gets pumped by pistons very hard and regularly as a result of hot, expansive, gasses. If not properly lubricated, the thrust bearing could get really hot, as it grinds away against the shaft causing spalling. The first visible objective indication of impending failure would be smoke.
Therefore anyone who closely mows their wife's lawn without proper servicing of their tools before use might end up smoking a pole.
At least that's what I think he was talking about.

Let's keep it amongst ourselves though. Or Pro Standards is also cool in those rare cases where simple inter-personal communications fail.
I was very glad to hear erdude say that pro-stan would be the better option if he couldn't or just didn't want to handle it himself.
The Delta pilots have a long established cultural tradition that I value very highly. We have each other's backs. We take care of our own.
If a guy needs some help or guidance we provide it in the most low-key way possible.
Going to management with a complaint that could jeopardize someone's job is only a last resort, extreme "red emergency" move. Flight safety would have to be in danger of being compromised before you do that. Simple use of some language you find offensive definitely does not qualify.
Flight attendants write each other up all the time. Pilots, never.
Its always been that way. Let's not ever change it.
