Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Disregard.

Buzz,
As you know alot of good people get hosed in a displacement. It happened to me in the early 90's and after 9-11. I was in the AF with one of the LAX 800 captains. He is a great guy. I dont think he got displaced fortunately. But you know what? You should come over to the ER in LA when you can. There are alot of us great guys over there too!!!

no I'm not sniffing paint...
You don't see this too often on scope conversations but on another thread talking about Continental and furloughs there was a mention that CAL is reducing 737 flying by 26% and doubling the size of the Dash 8 fleet in its place. CAL obviously is limited such that it cannot have large regional jets and the Dash 8-400Q is a hell of a turboprop that can do a lot of things jets can do, 400mph cruise speed and they are looking at a 90-100 seat stretch version, and so its a valid concern for them albeit different than in the past.
Just something I saw, thought it was interesting. Sometimes I think scope should be limited in % of flights of certain ranges. Only 5% of all DCI flights can exceed 1200nm, etc, or 60% must be under 600nm. I don't know, I know feed is important and all but such language would just serve as a mechanism to encourage bringing airplanes here such that we're not restricting the airlines feed but restricting outsourcing.
I am still a big proponent of big turboprops like the ATR-72 and 400Qs especially up in the northeast corridor where you don't need speed and range but rather lift and speed. I'll say this, if Delta wanted them at DCI then I'd want them at mainline. But I know some wouldn't agree with that since they don't even want mini-Airbus look a like Ejets here. So I propose that in order to get props back on property we resurrect the Electra. Just imagine the holding fuel alone! It'd be bad ass and when I hear a flight attendant say there are four flights from XYZ to ATL but only one of them is a "jet" then I can assume the others are Electras and not one of those fake jets that seemingly fly around out there.

DAL-S Guys,
The NY Base includes JFK, LGA, & EWR right? If NY based you cover all 3 on reserve? Is it common for trips to say start in JFK & end in LGA? I'm happy to stay in DTW or MSP, but seeing as how I'm junior NY could involutarily be in my future.
Also, anyone know of a good guide available for the AE process? I think it's time to study so I can set my card up.
Thanks in Advance.

Trips start and end at the same airport.
I've actually seen 4 day -88 trips that start/finish in JFK, but have 3 LGA overnights.

To me it seems listing a preference for which airport you fly out of has no real effect on your trip assignments. Trips start/end at the same airport or else ground trans is provided. For the 88, about half of my trips have been LGA, 1/3 JFK and the rest EWR. But it seems the EWR trips have become a little more common for the reserve guy...

Don't think you have to worry. Do you know how many commuters we have from the northeast that want NYC? A lot. It's a junior base for DAL-S, but will be no where near as junior once it opens to DAL-N. Every northeast commuter I talk to wants to be able to drive to work. You'd be luck to hold it if you wanted to.

Your trip has to start and end at the same airport. If you end at another airport they have to give you transportation to the airport where you originated (with ground transport credit added to the rotation).
Also, if your trip has mid trip stops in another airport...say you originate out of LGA and mid trip lays over in jfk, they have to give you a hotel room since you flew into another airport.
