Because they're not actually assigned HK priority until they check in without a seat assignment. You start seeing them popping up on the airport standby list when people start checking in online. They're still figured into Av/Au(Cap) stats from the time they buy their ticket, though.

Massive hit to safety? I doubt that. We used to sit reserve with a two hour call out all month. You often had 6 straight days of that. We never considered it duty sitting around with the only obligation to answer the phone if it rang. It might be a safety hit but massive is over playing it a bit. Besides 14/22 is not the new rule.
I will concede it was a bit stressful at times watching a football game while oncall that was going down to the wire. You never knew when you might get called and miss a great finish!

Is there any use for iCrew Max now that the passwords can't be saved? I don't use the phone app and the only thing I can see that it does is gives a link to the rotation when you view the monthly schedule.

Within 24 hours of departure, I have found the Au number to be a remarkably accurate predicter (sp?) of how many seats will be open after HKs are assigned seats. The number of available seats listed on the airport stby list is useless until about 60-90 minutes prior.

I know how things used to be, slow. I've been exposed to this industry longer than you have.

Justifying a degradation in safety by saying "well we used to" doesn't work that great when it was much more common to die in an accident then.

Get off my lawn, slow.

I realize that as the entitled child of an airline pilot you felt "exposed to the industry." Sailing has been flying since before you were born. And I if I've got your birth year correct you actually haven't been exposed longer than me.

Watching your dad pack for work, spending a couple of years at a regional and getting hired at the ripe old age of 25 doesn't provide you with a whole lot of background. Your shallow comments on this site haven't shown that you've really made the varsity (damn, that word again ;-))...btw, how many of those accidents at DAL were attributed to the call window?

There's a lesson in Gran Torino somewhere. I guess you missed it.

Ironic, that's what I think of people when I read a lot of the anti-alpa all the time quotes on the board. It's this sort of vitriol that killed my support of DPA.
