Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I was at the AMS roadshow last week and part of the presentation was all the things they are measuring on how we get jets in and out of the gates. As I recall, it's 15 items starting with what time the gate agent logs in at the gate prior to the flight to how fast they get the door open after we block in. I believe it was part of the dispatchers presentation and by then I was freezing to death (very cold room, Ferd in just a light shirt) and still pi$$ed off from the A330 crew bunk discussion with SD and really wanting a beer, sooooo I didn't go up and take a closer look at the slide.
One interesting thing they are trying is changing the Delta procedure for moving the jetway after landing. Normally, the agent can't move the jetway up to the airplane till all 3 chocks are in. Now they are trying a test in ATL where they chock the nose (with the brakes set) and move the jetway while they are chocking the mains. ATL is now leading that metric by a bunch and all the other hubs are begging to do it too.
Like I said, they are measuring a bunch of stuff in addition to the brakes on and off. One guy mentioned that the're still a bunch of "stuck chocks" around the system and SD just laughed and said "I know".

I am glad you mentioned that. If that sticks with the new AA that would be something to bring into discussion for our next contract.

This forum is way too dreary and negative focused lately! I want more of everything too but complaining here is not gonna do it! So lets focus on other things that are fun to focus on! Red tomato's!!!

Cracking down on the "professionals". (Can one be a professional by answering an ad in the newspaper?) Imagine actually having to be fit to preform emergency duties!

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here. I totally get that what you stated is currently the way it works. What I'm questioning is any upcoming changes that may or may not be in the works. I have heard from numerous sources that the new FAR changes are going to require applying Whitlow to international categories.
Ok, me too.......

The new FARs no longer differentiate between domestic and flag operations and instead they only look at the number of pilots being used (2,3,4 etc). I guess you can say that in effect it will be like Whitlow applying to international ops, but that's not really accurate.
