On the topic of books, I highly recommend Riding Rockets by Mike Mullane. Not airline related but it is a very funny recount of being at NASA during the 80's.

When we started service to Accra on the 330 I had a trip that DH DTW-JFK, get route qualified on a 767 to Accra, fly the first ACC-ATL flight, then DH back to DTW. I had to displace the original CA on the flight who ended up DH'ing every leg and was on a GREEN slip.

I'm quite confident there is something in the ALPA by-laws on how one proceeds in the above situation. If the said MEC member is messing around with a dues paying member's wife, then they are able to claim FPL. If two dues members' wives are involved, then perhaps double FPL applies. Nonetheless I'm sure a well positioned green slip would follow.

This needs to be referred to the Department of Justice. Nobody can eat or drink that much. It has the look of both embezzlement and money laundering. DOJ and IRS auditors would be able to get the truth.
Also interesting is that the team only had the time to investigate a few line items on hundreds of spreadsheet pages, of just one local chapter of ALPA.

My rule of thumb regarding these type of issues: Never jump directly to malice when incompetence can fit the bill.

Question, how do you avoid going to training in an early month. Usually I go early and bid for it, but I wanted to skip going early in May cuz its already all booked up with stuff.

I don't know if there is a way to do it like with CQ, but you can call the Training Planners or CPSC for help with that if you have a good reason.

There is a preference in the CQ bidding to avoid training. I have never had it honored though.
