News About Delta's RFP
March 18, 2013, 2:40 PM
Embraer expects to see substantial sales activity over the next few months involving 70- and 76-seat E-Jets as U.S. major airlines respond to relaxed union limits on regional jets among their regional airline partners, according to the manufacturer’s CEO, Frederico Curado. Speaking with security analysts during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings conference call on March 13, Curado expressed optimism about the prospect of further large-scale sales following bankruptcy court approval a day earlier of American Airlines’ plan to award Republic Airways the right to fly 47 seventy-six-seat E175s under the American Eagle banner. Embraer hopes to close the sale to Republic this week, he said.
American’s business plan calls for it deploy 215 “large” regional jets within its network by 2018. New scope clauses at both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have prompted requests for proposals to add new equipment to the fleets of their regional partners as well, leaving Embraer, Bombardier and a newcomer in the form of Mitsubishi all vying for the spoils. In December, Delta placed an order with Bombardier for forty 76-seat CRJ900s, all of which it plans to place with its Memphis-based Pinnacle Airlines subsidiary starting in the second half of this year.

"fleeting opportunities?"
Not for Delta pilots.
As someone cogently stated earlier...we don't need to have a huge backlog of grievances with the company. But we sure don't have to bend over for them all the time, either. Especially come contract time.

You're right. It was not too bad on the north side, nothing of what it looked like as it approached I75. Then it broke up.
The south side has lots of purple.
Looks like everyone coming in from behind wants to try it out, everyone in front of it and to the south said screw it and bolted to the alternates. Looks like Jacksonville is popular.

Apparently it was a mess. We got canceled in the outstation after our fourth extension. Southside got nailed.

Predictions on A.E:
Sleeper: NYC 320A: Goes down to 8000 on seniority.
Shocker: Atl B717A: Junior CA 6800 or so.
Inexplicable:The amount WB FOs that bid narrow body captain. (It will probably be mainly north guys doing this as we had a tendency to hire more public school kids than on the south side.)
The Unbelievable: With all the shake up and WB FOs bidding narrow body CA the 747 goes insufficient bidders from the north guys on the B side, allowing the first South FO on the airplane. (Can you say rest break controversy!)
Guaranteed: *****ing about the results.

I'm not sure that's an accurate portrayal of what's happening with DALPA.
There actually is an unresolved C16 "door pay" resolution passed well before the contract negotiations...
Some in DALPA are attempting change, while others don't care to expend the "negotiating capital" to affect a change...
A phone call or email to one's rep to bump this would be prudent...
Cheers

I would expect contract surveys to go out in the fall of 14. Openers in the spring of 15. Tell me the state of the economy at that point and what the SWA contract ends up being if done by then and I will give you a guess on how long ours will take.
This is also a 3 year contract not a 2 year as you posted. The amenable date is 31 Dec 15.

Openers will be Spring of 2015. 270 days prior to the amendable date.
PWA 28 A
Effective Date and Duration
Except as expressly provided otherwise, this agreement will become effective on July 1, 2012, will continue in full force and effect through December 31, 2015, and will renew itself without change through each succeeding December 31st, unless written notice of intended change is served in accordance with Section 6, Title I, of the Railway Labor Act, as amended, by either party hereto at least 60 days but no more than 270 days prior to December 31, 2015 or December 31st in any year thereafter. In the absence of an agreement by March 31, 2016, the parties agree to jointly petition the National Mediation Board for mediation services.
Interesting prediction I could totally buy. But why would there be itching about a DALS guy holding the 744 due to insufficient bidders? Its the contract. No different than 777 going to DALN guy which I could see in DTW or new hires in the 765/330, if nobody wants it there is a plan B.
