Green Slip going out on the 88B in ATL today. Crew planning folks have to be smoking some pretty good stuff to say that the 88 is overstaffed.

They're trying to see how few reserves they can live with. The crowd who thought they'd bid reserve and take a month off are going to fly.

If GSs start going out, watch for WSs to die off.

What are the rules for the company on using reserves from Atl to cover a DTW line. Say someone calls in sick mid trip and it is a DTW trip, can they use an ATL or SLC or NYC reserve to cover it or does it have to be a DTW crew? Seems to me they are working on trying to cover all rsvs from ATL.

Yes they can and they do that all the time. I covered an LAX ER trip back in January. When I was based in DTW I covered NYC trips a lot. Since I've been in ATL I've been called out for LAX, SLC, NYC, and SEA ER trips.

You haven't been on reserve long I take it? With our crappy reserve rules, if you can dream it, they can do it.

Yep... all it took was one AA FA to ruin it for all of us.

Yep... they carry a huge amount of rsvs on the atl320, but we get used constantly. Why? Because ATL has as many 320 departures as DTW but less than 1/3 the pilots. So, when anything happens... we cover it. Brilliant... don't staff the base for the flying it does, instead have over 1/3 the category on rsv so you can cover the other bases that pass through.
