We are shrinking to become a more efficient company. With the curent contract the company can do much more than this. Look at the fact that we can operate the same company with 248 less pilots.

The March crew resources update clearly states that "the March 2013 bid should be our final cleanup before entering into the more frequent bid phase." So going forward there hopefully will not be anymore displacements.

I know that 65 starts retiring a mass of pilots soon but I think Delta has other ideas of how to replace those pilots. Just like when the 2000 pilots left Delta and to replace them Delta bought, sorry, merge wioth Northwest. I wonder which airline is going to fill the 8000 retirement positions?

At some point if we don't grow, it will negatively affect our stock price.
Bluejuice,

Thanks for the info, I know you are passing on positive news. I had also heard this from a friend who attended an will agree if it comes to pass that is truly great news. On the DALPA forum they where discussing these numbers the other day.

11774 Pilots today
4070 pilots retire in next 10 years roughly 1/3 of the seniority list
8000 new pilot hires in next 10 years
15704 pilots in 2023.

Sailing, Johnson is this what your hearing in your circle? 15700 pilots in 2023?

Since no hiring in 2013 now. The training center is looking at averaging 888.8 new hire pilots a year from 2014 until 2023 plus what another 1000 AE's each year for a total of 1800+ training events. That is good new indeed.

Regrettably the March bid also clearly states they do not plan to hire to fill vacancies.

So I guess this supports seamonsters theory of a merger to fill vacancies. So many pieces to the puzzle. But I will say that I don't think the 2000 or 2001 hire groups could survive another merger. That would not be good.
