How many guys have been talking about sitting on reserve and not flying for weeks? It certainly shouldn't have been any surprise to you that we were overstaffed by a good amount starting 2012. In January 2012 we had 1430 pilots over the minimum staffing formula. As a comparison, January 2007 we had 300 pilots over the min staffing formula. That overstaffing was before we even started negotiations. That overstaffing had nothing to do with the TA.

Also, it should not be a surprise that the poor economy in Europe that is causing a decrease in Atlantic flying is also not a result of the TA. We had well over a hundred (maybe close to 200) guys come back from military leave, that had nothing to do with the TA. The A-330's were scheduled to go to lie flat mods and that had nothing to do with the TA.

So you are trying to conflate everything negative about your career progression with the ratification of the TA. This is just a false argument.

These are the differences that occurred with the TA;

  1. Early out program that let about 200 pilots out early
  2. Work rule changes, some positive some negative, that cost about 125-150 jobs net
  3. Acceleration of 50 seat removals and addition of 717's (or other small narrow body) at a faster rate than without the TA
In short, the TA made whatever bad stuff you feel, less bad. Without the TA we still were overstaffed, pilots would still come back from Mil Leave, the A-330's would go in for mx, and Europe would still be in recession. Each bid that has come out since the TA has been net positive for pilots moving to higher paying positions and this will be the same. Much of that gain has been because the early out program and the addition of 290 jobs from the 717.

So you can rant all you want. If you want to blame the weather on the TA or SuperStorm Sandy or anything else you can. The problem is separating out independent and dependent events. Most on this forum simply lump all their problems, real or perceived, and then blame the TA for this. That is a false argument.
Thx for the reply. I really don't lump all the problems into one and blame the TA, though it's understandable to assume that from my positions and tone. I merely maintain that certain productivity increases we gave the company in the TA will have more effect on allowing the company to delay hiring that is being promulgated. My career progression prior to 2013 had nothing to do with the TA of course. None of the other items you list have any relationship to the TA productivity gains I'm concerned with, nor do I mistake their effects for those I calculate from the TA areas I'm discussing. And I simply don't believe some of your numerical summarization is correct or accurate, much is inferred based on YOUR beliefs on what is causal.

Anyways, we're both hoping for the same things and just arguing about angels on the head of a pin while we wait for those hopes to materialize. Without full access to both of us of all the data crew resources has, it's just two blind guys arguing about the heat they feel on their skin for half the day. You say it's a fire carried on a giant tortoises back as he walks across the horizon each day; I say its a giant ball of flame towed behind Apollo's chariot as he traverses the heavens. Neither of us is close to astro-mechanics of stars.
Of course, I'm much much closer in my guess than you are

I love having a ghost writer, but I want to make sure we're on the same page.
First paragraph only You've written some poetic turns of phrase that have given me a chuckle before. I wouldn't assume to know your exact position of anything of substance, but I do know you like a good rhetorical idiom.

It's not in the app store. You have to go to icrewmax.com on your mobile and then place a shortcut on your phone to get the icon.

Its understandable that Kirk is upset. I heard his avatar picture was taken right after he blew it with that Hot Green Babe.

The most junior ATL DC9A is 7922. Now, despite my best efforts to elevate the DC9A to the highest category in the system I'm kind of certain that there were quite a few people who do not want to go back to flying without glass, FMS and A/C. For 88 drivers, having that every once in a while is bad enough.

So I would assume a few more people bid the 717A than before. Maybe more so now from DTW and especially MSP looking at the chart above. There may be some who just say screw it, if they want everyone in ATL then I'll come to ATL too.

I for one am bidding 717A, but I'm only going if I'm in the top 10%. After all, A/C is great, big screens, blah blah blah, yeah, I don't think it's going junior. Pilots like technology.

Scoop

I don't know if I'd ever recommend people having sex with green aliens.

Or mermaids. I saw that episode of Futurama where the guy falls in love and marrys a mermaid and then comes "the moment"...

Mermaid Mating - Video Clip | Comedy Central [please wait 30 seconds for weird violent video game commercial

Yeah, lesson learned there.

Oh, oh crap. That's going to be hard with 425 guys already bidding it ahead of me. #%@%$!@$.
