The statement was they may need to begin the hiring process in late 2012. Instead we will start the process this fall. Its been posted here many times why that delay has occurred. Instead of 300 to 350 ER's they got only 196. They had a higher then expected number of pilots come back from Mil Leave. Even then flight ops wanted to hire but was told to make do. We have been carrying a surplus of FO's. Everyone knew the nines were going away. If the contract had in fact cost us thousands of jobs or even hundreds of jobs this bid would have had a massive net displacement. Instead it has a net positive numbers of AE's and is substantially positive for Captains which is what moves people to the left seat. They have already put out that this bid clears the surplus copilots and follow on bids this year are expected to be almost all AE's. I call that good news.

P.S. We were supposed to retire a bunch of 757's during the next year. At least one for one with 737-900's coming on the property. Combine that with the massive loss of jobs from work rule concessions posted on here you would have expected 200 to 300 Captains to be displaced from the aircraft. Instead we added 3 Captains net on the767. How do you explain that?
psssst. The wording for both of the bolded events is identical, yet youre giving credence to the latter while excusing the former? Remember me calling you out on logical invalidities recently? Yeah, you're doing it again.

edit: We've also never had a net negative bid since I've been here... they have been at the worst net neutral, so the positive spin on this very marginally positive bid really isn't worth the value that you're trying to give it.

As far as its younger cousin with winglets, if we can put our passengers on pallets, there are plenty coming available!

Just for you Bar, the newest additions to the Delta Douglas ecosystem:

Fresh new engines, I love the JT8D smell in the morning!

Those are just freighters. Unfortunately the Everett line is no longer tooled for 767 passenger aircraft. They could change it, but given the drive to push 787 sales, they won't.

And there's no money in cargo so...

Are there legit gripes? Absolutely. Is DALPA perfect? Not even close. I am however, still very happy to be here. Want to cry about an unfair world? Feel free. I'm not going to join in or commiserate. I will hand you a tissue though.

Flt Ops is still fighting to begin hiring this year. When hiring starts the spigot will stay open for a decade. Very possible 321's w/330's on the way. Economy actually showing signs of life. Company estimating only 25% to 30% stay to 65. Signs of DAL life on West Coast. If only a 1/3d of what RA is planning happens, we are in for a rocket ship ride over the next 15yrs.

The spigot staying open would be based on the economy (what could possibly go wrong), and no more mergers.

Delta A346s!!!! That'd be fun. Imagine one of our terminals with the 744, 777, 330, 346, 763, 764 at one time!!

It'd be like our domestic side with DC95s, 320s, 319s, 739s, 752s, 738s, 763s, M88s, 737s, M90s, 717s, 753s.

I guess fleet commonality is not something we believe in.

$72 for a one year subscription ($36 schedule/$36 open time) I think that's what I read. I think that's an improvement from earlier prices.

Does anyone know if it will work the same, or will it require you to log on with a username and password everytime you use it (kind of lock the content locker)?

My subscription carried through the testing/security phase. It's changed now so every download you put in your password once (assuming it's synced). No username required though. The $36/$36 price is correct.
