This is true, and lets hope a few good ones step up!
Well, lets see here. I know that there are a few good guys that are planning on announcing soon.

I know of at least three maybe four guys that are thinking of running besides myself.

Yes, a lot of the ALPA political work goes unnoticed. It is kind of like the CIA, we only highlight the screw ups!

Does DAL S have guys on SILs right now? Have they been offered yet?

Yes there are a few guys on SIL's for the month of Sept. Go look at the Flight Ops Page, select Pilot Resources and Scheduling and look in the left column about half the way down. The numbers offered and awarded are there.
Not that many took it FWIW. A lot more were offered.

...or just figure out what 6% is different and re-Certify it, or maybe the FAA would let them re-Certify it at the lower weights like they did the E175.
The FAA's position on this is that certification at the lower weights is a "marketing" tool that has nothing to do with airworthiness. The operator and manufacturer can get together and set any limitation, as long as that limitation is less than what the FAA Certified the jet for.
Apparently mainline has been doing this for years to avoid paying higher landing fees on larger airplanes. So I guess it should not surprise us that an operator that runs four Operating Certificates to avoid scope limits uses Aircraft Certification legerdemain to avoid scope limits too.
If anyone needs to know where this ends, here you go.

In a day full of ironic twists, this game is more fun the more often you fail.

Some observations of Mr. Moak's presentation and Q&A at the Compass Road Show in MSP yesterday:
1) He blasted the APA for holding the line on 50-seat scope and for their attempts to bring the regional feed into the mainline. He firmly believes (somehow...) that if they give up their scope that it will mean 1000 mainline pilots brought back from furlough.
2) The MEC is very much in favor of as MANY flow-through agreements as they can get, because it "couples the regional feed to the brand". Actively seeking to sign more flow agreements.
3) He said the 76-seat scope is "gone and will not be coming back to the mainline".
4) Compass will be out of the Delta MEC in October, pending a miracle; Compass will not get DAL numbers.
5) He says there are no violations by RAH/Shuttle America and that they are looking into it.
6) He knows that people hammer him on this (and other) boards.
All in all, it seemed as though he was trying to convince us that we need to accept our shoddy contract and pay because we are "Delta pilots". The scope battle just seems that much tougher now.

2) When is our next Town Hall? Because one of the most effective things you can do is stand up and ask: "Mr. Moak, it is rumored you said the following at a Compass Road Show in MSP and I will read it as it was posted... what say you?"
Simple as that. Heck, email it to your reps, ask them, is this true? Just see what they say.
