Why on gods earth do they allow weekend coverage to go so low? They have 50+ sittin reserve M-Th and come F-Su they have 9. The money that the company pi$$es away on GS. If anything they should have more coverage on weekends as that is when people tend to call in sick more often. I can hold weekends off on reserve so I shouldn't complain but I like weekdays off too now and then and would love to see more balanced staffing. WT-Eff?? Over
Really?? You want more guys to be on call over the weekend? The reason we have 50+ during the week is that we are overstaffed. Once the weekends have adequate coverage most guys bid the weekends off.
And if by "pi$$ing away money" you mean Pilot compensation, I say its a start. Remember the pilots had their defined benefit pensions canceled or frozen while management was getting bonuses to do it. Remember we took a 42% pay-cut and are still not back to 2001 wages.
If you are concerned about the company paying too much to the employees, which I admit is noble, start by taking a look at the plethora of VPs and/or Asst VPs. I bet not many of them are being compensated at or below 2001 levels.

Have to disagree here to some extent. While it might be "good" for the individual to get a GS, collectively I think its bad. We are constantly hearing the phrase "overstaffed" come from Network. This could lead to some MDs to lower paying jets for some junior guys. Not to mention future hiring could be impacted. I wonder how "overstaffed" we would be if everyone just flew their awarded line?

I say bad for the same reason I'd rather return to the bow wave, I want more people in every category, not less. Even if it caps the hours I can get paid.
Same with weekend coverage, if they can live with 50 during the week, hope about 50 on the weekend. That's increase the number of pilots.

Is that 5 one-day trips? or 5 five-day trips? I don't use much sick time, but I hate the feeling of not being trusted by the company to do the right thing.
