I am trying to figure out if we gave it to them, or will jet let them use it. I look for subtle clues in these releases, and I have not found one that states that they actually took possession of the slot. It states that they will "gain access to" that IMHO means that we will allow them access but we A) have right of first refusal, or B) still own it and will jet let them operate on our authority.


Also. I am think that LCC gets the use of the gates at the MAT, and we will use off of the gates at the main terminals.

I don't disagree with you on the state of the DC-9. The last I heard from anyone official, they would be all gone by 2012, with the -50's hanging around the longest. I've heard many rumors concerning the DC-9, so when I talk about it, I qualify my remarks. So, I'm not going to tell you that I know what happened to every airplane they parked in the past 4 years. But, I will ask you because you have the inside knowledge; are you telling me that the DC-9's that were parked were all "sold for scraps?"

Dom told me up at natco that we had 35 dc9-30s in storage that would be swapped with current hulls flying as they timed out. Thus being a 1-1 swap out which would keep the -30s flying a little longer. He said the -40s are gone when they time out and that they are looking at options to convert the -50's over to match the -88's cockpit which would keep the -50s flying for a lot longer.

I dont know any further details but that was from the DC9 fleet manager fwiw

I am do not think that the were sold, but we are using their components to keep the active fleet flying.

I think that there are one or two that are out there that are considered mission capable, but that is it. (From what I have been told, and we know that sometime not all of the facts are known. This comes from three separate people, and the story was the same, so take it for what it is worth.)

Delta TechOps lands CanJet deal
Atlanta Business Chronicle

Delta TechOps inked a $7 million, four-year contract with Canadian charter airline, CanJet.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines Inc.’s maintenance unit said the deal includes component and inventory logistics support for CanJet’s Boeing 737-800 fleet, including avionics, pneumatics and hydraulics. It also will give CanJet access to Delta’s inventory of 737-800 components, ensuring that spare parts are available during the repair process.

Halifax, Nova Scotia-based CanJet added three new aircraft this year, and expects to operate seven aircraft throughout the year by 2010. CanJet, which is owned by IMP Group International Inc., typically adds between five and eight seasonal aircraft to its fleet during the winter months.

As you will become aware, DAL will not do anything unless they get an ROI of two years or less.

FWIW, the info down here is that the 30's and 40's will be parked. When is up for debate, but one thing DAL does well is park jets when they want to!
