Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Can you put us in the shoes of an AS pilot and explain what they are POed about?

That is one of the more amusing yet sad things about union politics.
"I don't like what's going on with x"
"WELL YOU NEED TO GET INVOLVED.. QUITE WHINING"
"I am involved- I proposed to do y, z, b, and a about it"
"Oh... well none of those will work, because they don't fit my set of politics."

In the last 4 months the MEC elected a new MEC Chairman. Several major committees and appointed positions turned over. The negotiating committee went from 4 to 3. The EVP changed. There are 9 new voting reps out of 19 votes taking office March 1.
You whine because the results don't fit YOUR set of politics.

I talked to a couple of them at LAX last month and they feel the sameway as we do about the code sharing. The FO said something about no growth there either. Also, their lucrative mail contract to the islands is coming to an end, they said some island cut backs may be coming.

If rumors are true about 321s and categories are fat, especially the Airbus, I would think Delta could ramp up Seattle feed extremely fast.
I wouldn't say we have the Atlantic wrapped up, but our JV with VA should be busy for a while. So, I like hearing that DAL is going to start concentrating on Asia. If we want more wide bodies, Asia is going to be the part of the world that generates that demand. The important hubs for that O and I are going to be on the coast. Wouldn't you say it is imperative to get this flying established ASAP?
What a load of BUNK!

Are you unequically stating that politics does not enter into DALPA or ALPA operations?
Are you further implying that all reps and MEC members are as pure as the driven snow?
Or are you simply implying that 80 did not get his quotes exactly correct as to hold up in a court of law?

Past experience of watching DAL MGMT tells me that if you cross them in a competitive business deal they will hold a grudge. Alaska seems to have accomplished this with the latest AA deal.

Back in the Mo'Ron days Delta led the industry in running from competition.
I heard that RA was mighty P-O'ed at JAL a couple of years ago when Delta had a handshake deal and they backed out. Wasn't it just a month or two ago when he flew to SEA and he had a joint press conference with Alaska's CEO about our "improved" codeshare offerings?
He may want to spank them hard and put a bunch of Delta seats in "their" markets at fire sale prices. Alaska may have strong brand loyalty in the PNW, but I think it's been fairly well proven that you can price tickets a bit lower and that loyalty disappears. DAL is so much bigger they could really put the hurt on AS.
A lot of those were "our" markets too after the DAL-WAL merger.
