Either way, they're neither a low-cost, nor a low-fare airline.
Coincidentally, there were a couple articles mentioned on the Deltanet about this very topic:

We don't need (or even want, IMO) SWA to go away (nor will they). But we did need the days of them dominating anything they chose and taking whatever marketshare they wanted to come to a harsh end and it has.
Meanwhile, VX is poking yet another hornet's nest. AUS and ANC is so provocative a move for them, it appears they are desperately positioning themselves for a future merger.
Boog;
They still have some really low fares if you buy at the right time, but the prices go up as the flight date approaches. Plus they have numerous direct/non-stops with which DAL would transit a hub. It depends on where you are going.
Your neighbor did 40K+ better than me if that was his w-2 reported income. If you add in my 401k (company and my contribution) we tied +/-.

Bama, lol, lol. Four new scholarship openings.
Maybe that article sparked something over at AirTran because look at what ad popped up:
Or maybe demand is down for AirTran as loyal customers stand around rather confused as to what airline are they supposed to fly on? SWA or AirTran?

Significantly off topic...
Does anyone have an internet webpage with a shopping cart. My son's surf/ paddleboard business is going to go on the web and I have compared bunches of the companies (using the various top ten lists) that offer webhosting, domains, shopping carts etc. But it seems like you really never know until you bite the bullet and subscribe to one of them.
As an aside, I found it interesting that godaddy isn't on any of the top ten lists.

You guys crack me up. Sometimes it's "Southwest is lost, gonna start going downhill, Lost it's way". Then, "AMR is going to liquidate, judge is going to impose contract, We are getting MIA and JFK". "UAL/CAL is a mess, just wait".
I think the focus should be a little more on your own pay/QOL vs hoping other airlines do poorly

You nailed it. That is all you hear from the koolaid drinkers, "SWA is doomed, AMR is in Bankruptcy and UCAL is going to fail: The US/AA merger is the titanic, blah blah blah".
All in all, those carriers are poised to kick the living snot out of us and best of all their pilots are advancing and their retirement/w2 are better. Their route networks ...nevermind

I can agree that substantial damage was done to the US part 121 profession with c-scale pilots flying our planes, pilots would have walked off the job over this just ten years ago, well APA and SWAPA would have. What I have a major problem with is making the same stupid decisions over and over hoping for a better outcome each time. Lastly, for all I know you could be some zit faced intern reading tuner car or world of warcraft magazine on the fourth floor; I don't really care. The best position for a guy like you is handling the aftermath of families destroyed or otherwise uprooted through whipsawing between regionals. Maybe you could have dinner with a RJ pilot and his family and explain why he's going from CRJ-50 captain to CRJ-900 FO on probation instead of flying the same jet or better at Delta. My intent is to highlight our mistakes, to the maximum extent possible, so next time we can break the chain. It won't end, I'm relentless. You don't know my background, few on here do. If I had made your mistake I couldn't even face my peers let alone look at myself in the mirror.
