Just one more thing we have outsourced...if memory serves, it was only about 6 months after we shut down our freighters that Air France cargo started twice a week 747F ATL-CDG.

Yup. CVG *****ed for years about fares. Now, they have little to no service and three terminals are less than one. If there was a viable market there, there would be service. Not even SWA is going in. Comair is gone. DHL is a ghost. Pick your poison. Have fun connecting through Dayton.

Government Running A Business 101: raise costs and salaries every year at inflation plus.

102: if income goes down, raise rates.

103: if income goes below costs again, raise rates.

104: if income goes down again, demagogue.

After demagoguing, tell voters how lucky they are to have such courageous leaders who are leading them to prosperity by freezing government budgets (i.e. this year's budget of last year's budget + 8% will next year only be this year's budget + 8%, not the + 10% previously planned).

And when really pressed, make cuts to budgets. i.e. Instead of raising budget by inflation+8% next year, agree to raise budget by inflation+8%-.05%.

Not arguing, but do you blame the people for complaining? Year after year Cincinnati had, still has, the highest average fare of any city in the USA. And Delta has cut flights there even without a LCC being present. And now that Frontier has moved in, DAL suddenly matches fares? Wait a second, I thought DAL needed the fares high in order to be profitable? Which is it?

I know many people have no problem driving to Dayton if you're in Cincy, or down to Lexington or Louisville if you're in Northern KY. People save a lot of money doing that.

Also, minor point, DHL moved back to CVG and has built a very large sort facility there. That's the only thing keeping CVG viable at this point. If DHL wasn't paying a majority of the airport fees, DAL wouldn't be able to do it alone.

The entire situation is sad, very sad. Cincinnati has already lost industry because of the lack of options at CVG. In the end, it is the people who get screwed by all of this.

Mesabah and Johnso,

Ok, I can see that but then it comes down to logistics like: who is under contract for the gate space in B and E concourses, Delta or Skywest? If it's Skywest (and I would bet it is) where are GoJet/Pinnacle going to get gate space to operate on the scale we need? You guys are probably right but I don't think it's going to be easy. Skywest isn't going to go away easily.

Eventually, with the MRJ thing, something is going to have to be done and maybe this is Delta thinking ahead to that point...........
