It's pretty amazing to see how many people have already bid for the 717A and B slots even without an AE out there.

I agree. The other benefit is you have relatively senior pilots living in-base bidding reserve. That means some of the better trips migrate down the seniority list and some junior pilots will be able to hold a line. Some of those junior pilots may be commuters.

With all the talk of guys with a 0 RAW score and 0 short calls I just looked at my category (SLC 320A). Today there are 11 pilots on reserve. Three are in raw group one, five in group two, two in group three and one in group four. The lowest number of short calls by any of this group was three, and of those with only three short calls none was less than RAW group two. And the pilot in RAW group four had seven pilots junior to him/her! Nobody's getting a free ride...

Sorry but I see, as Scoop says, "a pretty good system". The only way to have a perfectly linear distribution of RAW scores and short call assignments according to seniority is to have the ability to have perfect foresight. Neither DAL or DALPA (or anyone else) can predict mechanical problems, weather issues sick outs, etc. The best they can do is create a framework for trip and short call assignments that respects seniority. I believe they've done that.

Hey, I only fell back one-half a percentage point in regard to the dental increase with the pay raise of 8.5%!

Not looking forward to how much I'll be falling behind the cost of living a year from now.
I'll second that. The fiscal cliff really ****es me off. I wish congress would have done nothing. What they did do did not help us any way. My 8.5 percent raise (really 6.5 with profit sharing loss, really 4.5 if you count the extra 2 percent we are paying in social security, really closer to 3 percent if you count the increases in medial premiums) is barely noticeable. After typing out my parenthesis, I can see why. Disappointing.

And since you're senior to me you're not even seeing my bid.

I think that 717 will be senior. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it may % for % it will be more senior than the 88. I bet the senior positions are up there with the 320. Cuz you just keep hearing "I'm going to bid it for seniority..." Says everyone.

Really, pilots round these parts are just desperate for some semblance of technology...

even if it's just Southwest's trash.

Speaking of the latest and greatest in technology around these parts...

After a delay in its plans, Korean Air now says it will fly its A380 super jumbo jet to Atlanta starting in August.

The carrier had previously planned to start flying the 407-seat Airbus A380 early this month on its Atlanta-Seoul route. But last year those plans got delayed after European air safety regulators ordered inspections of all A380s for tiny cracks in a wing part.

Hartsfield-Jackson general manager Louis Miller has said the A380 would “enhance Atlanta’s reputation as a world-class city and gateway to the United States.” The airport is spending about $30 million on improvements to prepare for the A380, including gate modifications to serve the double-decker jet on Concourse E and widening of taxiways and runways.

Korean Air, a partner of Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, first launched flights to Atlanta in December 1994.

We'll see, but you just prompted me to go look and see how senior it was going and there were a few guys senior to me who already bid atl717a. Of course, that could change 1 minute before the bid closes. Of course, if I was on the -9 and I liked that flying, why not bid it... OTOH, I don't think it is alpa's place to tell us what planes we would or would not want to fly.

Scam, you mean: "You would not want to fly a Regional Jet. Because it's small. Let someone else fly it for you."

"You mean we're only going to let small people fly it?"

"No. Normal people."

"Then, I don't understand, why does it matter if it's small?"

The one useless thing about that program is that it doesn't let you know how many people said 717A if 20% or better. Just that they bid it. Even their first bid may have a qualifier.
