My bet is there will be displacements in every category but the DC9 in ATL.
And I don't mean the sky is falling so we're displacing, expect furloughs, maybe the bubonic plague.
I just think the intent is to staff the 717 in such a way that is 88 MDs and some DC9 AEs and they'll massage it to make that happen. But hopefully I'm wrong.

BTW, what was with the union email about the default for the VA JV being 75% of the block hours flown associated with the amount of the code share or whatever? If we do a metal neutral agreement like with AF/KLM, is our default with VA really going to be 75% of the block hours? If so, what is there to negotiate? We'll take our 75%, good day!

Since we all know there is no way we're getting 75% of anything foreign code share related (although Virgin Austrailia sure did!) then what is likely to be the result from all this?

I doubt they have the ability to mind trick the pilot group to do anything even close to that. In their attempts to "socially engineer" our bidding habbits they will likely create as many or more net events once the dust settles from this in a year or three. Not that they care, as apparently many in the braintrust think very, very short term WRT training events. They've been very prone to happily dump tons of pilots into training to shuffle categories to save a few bucks an hour, only to have many those same pilots go right back into a training event almost immediately, each time costing many times what was ever saved.
Now I'm just trying to put my evil hat on and figure a worst case scenario that causes a lot of us to move down in category and possibly out of the category to prevent the 9 from being under staffed. Which is why they over staffed it. It wasn't a growing category by any means but they knew this 717 AE would come eventually.
I'd rather just have a simple AE. Pick what you want. No MDs.

I think it's been since 2008 since we've had a bid without displacements. Crazy...

Looking for advice on non-polarized prescription sunglasses. It seems most places only do polarized glasses.
Any thoughts?
Thanks Scoop

just take a picture of your mil ID and email it to them, and you can set up an account. Then you can send them your prescription. Very reasonable prices for a great product.

I'd say so. Or at least we automatically sell 3-4 days of our vacation back, for no money, for every week's worth we get.
IMO we don't need more vacation. Even the 5th week is rediculous in the context of the current value we currently recieve. We need better vacation time/credit worth more. At least 5 hours a day. If that means one less week per year or it takes more years to get extra weeks then so be it but the current system is aweful, particularly for reserves who effectlvely only get 3 days off per "week" of vacation because of the horrible level of credit it pays. Some want to bring the 6th week back and that would only give the problem more inertia and make it harder to fix. Even worse are the ones that cling to the idiotic notion of "touch drop" where guys could bid 12 day trips barely touching either end and get a month off for every week. Well guess who pays for that?
What weeks one gets for vacation is and should be a function of seniority. But we do not need to create a system where one's seniority can leverage a month off for each week while junior pilots (in category) only net a few extra days off for a "week".
