Anybody remember the good old days when 767-400s went there out of ATL, SEA, SFO, LAX, a 767 from SLC, plus 757s to the out lying cities and NW with 757-300s from SEA, SFO, LAX, plus a 330 from MSP?

Yeah... those were the days.
If you want to talk good old days...how about "remember when NWA had a DC-10 and 747 pilot base in HNL?

the company itself must be held accountable, just like we are. the award was published before it was ready. That's Delta's mistake. Delta needs to honor the more favorable awards from both runs, and eat whatever green slips result.

ALPA should be there to make sure Delta is held accountable... not just to hold Delta's hand.
I guess we could go in and demand that. The company response would be simple. Ok, we are never going to publish a vacation or PBS award again until the deadline. We have tried to get things posted as quick as possible but those days are gone. We will use every minute available to us.

and that's a problem because....?

If the contractual "deadline" is insufficient, I assume DALPA wouldn't have negotiated it.

That sounds a little vindictive, and stupid, and it doesn't account for the fact that PBS awards are done in conjunction with ALPA. However, I do agree that the flip side of them checking their work a bunch is slower awards, and we don't get mistakes often. In this case, seems to me the problem was in forcing two weeks (or more?) onto non-bidders, which charlie-bravoed other guys for their anniversaries. They re-ran to fix, and that's that.

I think the more interesting discussion is how the computer picks for non-bidders. After it tries for Christmas/Thanksgiving and summer, and goes to "any" week... does it pick arbitrarily, or take into consideration what junior bidders want?

I really think it is a sport for some on this board to get worked up about any even perceived slight or mistake by the company. I have made a mistake before and I saw first hand how it was handled by the company, I was impressed.

Now no metal was bent nor were people hurt it was an administrative type error, much like the vacation issue. I worry that instead of a call from a CP if some on this board have been in charge I would have been unemployed.

Sometimes a mistake is just that a mistake. In this instance it was recognized and the company fixed it. Time to move on.

Gotta go before they run out of grape kool aid

Some people just aren't happy unless others are miserable with them.

That's damn Carl. That's where he's been. At least he has a light so he doesn't get lost.

I'm tired of training. It'd be nice to actually settle into a category.
I feel the same way. That's why I fly the 88. I would have bid the DC-9, but there was no ATL base when I came to the 88. These AE's don't even faze me anymore. I am solidly junior in my category. I don't have to worry about getting displaced though.
