Yeah I got my second choice as well so don't really care to see anything rerun. I guess if mistakes were made though maybe it is only right.

I have a good run going I haven't worked a single holiday since I was hired. Good luck and junior category do wonders for QOL.

Can anyone tell me what happens when you max out your 401K? In 2011 I guess I hit the max of $17,000 going to the 401K, but I know I had more taken out than that. Where does the rest go, and what is the 415K? Pretty ignorant on this because I've never maxed out the 401K before.

It's still goes in there, but there are no tax benefits for your contributions above your 17K. It's no different than had you sent it to your checking account. The downside is that you can't get to it until you retire or else face a hefty penalty.

Once your cotributions hit the limit it automatically stops. Any excess for the remainder of the year is paid in your paycheck as taxable income. You can elect to make additional contributions to your retirement acct with after -tax money but it doesn't count against the 415c limit.

Btw the 415c limit is somewhere around $50,000/yr. It is the total amount of tax advantaged money contributed between you and Delta.

Per ALPA there were some issues with vacation bidding and a communications should be out soon about it. Sounds like a rerun is in the works if not already done. Also they can't award two weeks if I didn't bid enough lines so mine was a total faux pas.

They should have stopped your contributions at $17,000. If you are over 50, then you can put in an additional $5,500. I've never heard of them continuting to put your money in above those limits. It usually stops and goes into your paycheck as normal income once you hit the limit.

The 415K is the IRS code for the DC plan, it's the total amount put into both your 401K account and your DC account. That amount is what you and Delta have contributed and is limited to $50,000 per year.

Mine was messed up too. I got a PVAC and a TVAC, never having bid for the tertiary vacation.

Thanks all about the 401k. Yea it looks like I hit the limit in the first paycheck in Dec, and that explains why the second one was a little bigger than usual.

I actually did this the last 2 years. Once you hit the 17k limit (17.5k for 2013), it no longer takes the money out of your paycheck. I always front-load my contributions in the year.

your paychecks just end up larger

I put my anniversary week of aug 16 as my first choice (having never not held that), and then christmas... then just started listing 1,2,3, 4...

How the crap could I not hold anything from April all the way through the middle of October? Something definitely was jacked up.
