Shhhh, the naysayers think otherwise. The plan is to park only 7-8 757's this year.

I find it interesting that we're being told more and more frequently what we need to bid. If I understand correctly, anyone that bids the 717 from the 9 is just not a team player.

And yet, it's a 365-day bid.

It would have to be a resignation, as no furlough bypass people can legally come back.

I agree that the ATL 767 flying going to the ATL 7ER is a very good thing. Excellent news.

Have those been parked yet? Any word on when it's planned?

Sailing and Dalad,

How do you get a sense of positive OR negative from the memo? The big unknown is how many 7ER F/O's they're going to surplus, and they are admittedly overstaffed in the 320 and 88 in that seat as well, and the DC 9 in both seats.

I don't mind being optimistic, and I in fact am generally optimistic, but how do you accomplish that based on this update? Is a pronouncement on the future based on this text, naysayer or cheerleader, not a faith-based exercise?

Thanks. Then Sailing's "we are hiring in effect" is 10 more guys short.

Well I should hope so, but I tend to think Clamp is on to something - "Overstaffed" seems to describe most categories.

So what was potentially going to finally start the movement as a very, very positive bid may be mitigated by the tons of displacements that the memo mentions.

If for instance, a lot of the surplus 7ER FOs take up a lot of the 717 Captain spots, the bottom guys may not see that much upward movement at all, yet again. So this bid in which we were all hoping for great thing gets pushed to a more "neutral" status, and we are once again treading water.

I am hoping for the best. but I don't see this memo as positive at all.

I am sorry, but it says "majority" of time.

We have conducted some simulation runs and believe that the majority of the ATL-767 domestic flying will move to the ATL-7ER category.
I don't mean to drag anyone down, but 50.1% would be called a "majority", wouldn't it?

Just wait and see, I guess.

Overstaffed applied to copilot positions. A lot of copilots will move up to Captain on this bid. There will be fewer overall copilots but its better to move the surpluses to Captains seats then the street. Surpluses are always carried by the company in the lower paid seats for obvious reasons.
