Depends on the plane. 757/767 it's a captain's switch. On the 737 it's an FO's switch. Don't have a clue about the others.

OK, thanks. We were already turning it off with the shutdown, so I guess we will be flipping it both ways now.

Fact is that it is the CA switch, and never forget it. Just do what he tells you to do. Works well here on the southern front.

On the N side, all of the aircraft but the 9, the Capt turns on the beacon.
