There planned first 717 bid will be in Dec or Jan to get the pipeline going.
Sorry about the circular nature of this discussion, but, if management was shooting straight about a straight up refleeting of the 50 seaters, we would be hiring "more than 1,000 pilots." However, if management's real focus is on the Next Gen CRJ-900 and the 717 is an inefficient stop gap to appease pilots, then it will be staffed with displacements (or some combination of both). It beats a furlough, but, IMHO it should not matter if the CRJ200 refleeting is performed by an RJ or a mainline jet, a Delta pilot should be at the controls.

With all the capacity reductions, we are carrying enough fat to fill the 717 and 737 through 2014. Management will not have to address the AF JV until mid 2015 and oh shockers, we have a contract then ... lemme see ... scope problem ... scope SOLUTION ... no problem ... the job sales are as easy to time as the end of season sales on lawn mowers.

Management probably over played their hand a bit if they bluffed about hiring. Same players will be at the next card game, if we have a next card game.

Yep. They take a long term perspective on scope. This allows management to exploit our lack of strategic direction, or moral guidance.

There is absolutely NO WAY that is true.

At all!

Your assignment:

Add up the seniority lists of all the DCI carriers and let us know what the total is.

Signing a NDA is a "no brainer" since a peek behind the curtain would obviously reveal information valuable to a competitor, even if you had no intention what so ever to merge, or buy, a part of AMR's operation.

Or...if you wanted to run the price up for whom ever does end up with them, just like AA's Cradall did to Mo'Ron with the Pan Am buy.

The replacements for the DC9's were already purchased before the 717 deal. There are still about 20 of the MD90s in mod lines coming online.

You assume that if we had a 100 percent scope clause at Delta all that flying would still be done. Thats a very bad assumption and would not be the case. I am also talking about changes since 2001. In June of 2001 we had the same number of pilot block hours at Delta as we did in June of 07 prior to the merger. We however had 3000 plus fewer pilots then we had in 01. The difference was and is work rules.
