Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

As a 2010 hire, I did two weeks of indoctrination training in ATL followed by A320 training in NATCO at MSP. Every Capt asks me "Are you former Northwest or former Delta?", and I have to respond, "We were hired after the 2008 merger."...then confused silence ensues.
Finally the Capt says, "We hired pilots in 2010???"
Finally the Capt says, "We hired pilots in 2010???"

Yes, this would be a good thing.

I flew with a capt last month who was adamant that Southwest were represented by ALPA. Both me and the jumpseat guy tried convincing him that they had their own in house union, SWAPA, but I don't think he really believed it. He was pointing to them as evidence of ALPA doing good stuff lol. He was a good guy and it was a fun trip, but it's indicative of how little some guys know about what's going on in this job.

Absolutely. I saw these constantly from UPT in 1982 on. Always playing in the background. Sordid but prescient.

The problem it's been this way for some of us since the change back in Feb. I agree with you that the raw score needed to reach bucket 2 should be shrunk in the lean months.

Let's set this one up.
DTW HND is losing a ton of money
We have no connecting ability out of HND AMR and UAL have JAL and ANA. Respectively.
The Japanese government wants two ANA and two JAL slots moved from NRT to HND to push all of the US bound flights out of HND leaving us at NRT two hours out of the city center
The requisite quid is moving all of our 315 weekly NRT slots to HND. The Japanese do not want that, one for space in HND and two because it does not marganize our fifth freedom rights.
By pulling a flight out of HND unilaterally it hurts the argument for the overall demand which is our flying out of HND if they agree to move the Japanese slots.
In the end if you do not want to look at this broader issue look at it this way. Move the slot or suspend the service because DTW HND is losing its shirt. Support keeps the pilot block hrs and the route. The quid is keeping the flying not a promise of growth.
The Japanese issue is a big one and a strategic loss with the slot conflict would mean jobs and some of the most sought after flying from this pilot group.

By Aug 19th I had 78(and some change) of credit. I had off from 20-24 Aug and would you guess what? They assigned me SC on the 25th. Now, with me being a somewhat new guy not wanting to rock the boat, I commute up to NY and sit the requisite 24 hours in my crashpad. However I saw 2 greenslips handed out. I call sched and ask *** and they said well we can't use you because youre so close to guarantee. So I go home the next day and the wife and I go visit her alma mater (Auburn!! War Eagle!!) where I get another phone call from scheduling for a SC the next day. Fed up I call and say to sched that they couldn't use me and why am I getting SC? She says, "Oh yeah well lets just take that off your schedule." I think someone may have mentioned it on here before but they must let the computer randomly assign SC. Or its the seperate bucket system for SC. Who knows??
