Sorry, but the Blue Angles never flew theF-14, or F-16. They went from the F-4, to the A-4, to the F-18.

Those later pics of F-16s with "Navy" on them are "Aggressors", either at Fallon, Nellis, or Wherever Top Gun is now.

That bait dangled for a long time before the hook was set.

I remember a few years ago a B-1 landed at FRA on one of their 13,123' runways because the wings were stuck in a swept back position. Was that you perhaps?

It takes 3 to start
2 to taxi
Leaves 1 to take-off

Although it is pretty cool to see they now do "close air support" with JDAMs from 30,000 ft.

And L1011 = Lockheed. I wouldn't tell any Lockheed engineer that McDonnell Douglas had a thing to do with the L1011!

Hook, line, sinker.

As they do their duo, I can just picture some anal retentive usafa grad squirming in his seat while reading it.

That alone makes me laugh about it.

The F-104 used engine bleed air for a "blown flaps" system to allow it to fly slow enough to land, so engine out landing was pretty much impossible (except for Newk, of course.). They say it glided like a set of car keys. I still would love to fly it...thay was one sexy beast.

I had a few books I bought earlier this year for summer reading, one of which was First Man, the life of Neil Armstrong. Yesterday I was perusing the various books deciding which to start, and saw the biography was dated 2005. Curious what he as doing now I googled him to find out he just died. No question of which book I'm reading now.

Like many of you I was completely enthralled with the Apollo program as a boy, and it was probably my prime motivation for both the military and a flying career. Apollo and Neil were larger than life, and a testament to what this nation is capable of achieving.

God Speed Neil Armstrong.

And I'd like to see a Navy B-1.

That's a pic of 4 B-1 engines being delivered.
