Plus the associated training bubble 150+ cascading retirements will bring, plus the bubble needed to buff the 717 and 737s. Not saying it will happen, but it could, especially if we're just looking at 150 this year, although I really doubt we will see sustained 50 a month starting in 2013. 2015 or 16 maybe, but not for a while. The economy isn't about to suddenly "recover" other than maybe another quantitative easing spending bubble, which won't last long and I'm sure RA knows this better than anyone. If we do need substantially more bodies, it will be because we're finally taking it to JB, VA, AS and the foreign EGO carriers, perhaps timing it with the collapse of their dellusional fantasy Farnborough order books.
Still LAS is giving 1.5:1 odds against DL hiring for 2013 and the 2013/2014 over/under is 220 (or 221, whatever it takes).
*heh heh heh, I said duty!

That's what I thought. I would still love to see some wide-body Boeing orders. And the 747-8i would be great, but I will settle for 777's and787's.

If we hire it's not for the block plan as released. A new jet announcement that we would take delivery of in short order or the 757's stating would cha ge the 2013 block plan and possibly necessitate hiring.
With Flt ops announcing no AE until the end of the year it would be hard to hire or recall those on bypass until another AE was posted unless all pilots were going to the dc9
It does make more sense to hire than to displace. I assume you would see an AE prior to hiring.

As for the AE relative to hiring, that is how it usually seems to be, however since the hiring/training pipeline takes a while to ramp up, if they "know" they will need pilots, I could see them gearing things up before an official AE. I don't think it will happen, but it wouldn't be mind blowing if it did.
My best friend Kevin Bacon knows this guy that lives next door to this lady that goes to church with a CPZ pilot and he says that she says that he says that someone high up at CPZ said that CPZ and DL have worked out the next round of flows a little better and the 90 day buffer, which Hulas says will be enforced rigorously, will be built into the process the next time we hire.
Word is CPZ wanted a little more notice anyway and DL absolutely hated doing the split class thing with flow holdbacks and ghost bidders when new hires were going into 3 or 4 different planes. That's something that will likely be the case if and when hiring ever resumes (Objection! Sustained. I withdrawal my statement.) so if the department that runs Flt Ops (Marketing, duh) anticipates anywhere near significant and/or sustained hiring, I could see the process gearing up before the next AE made it official.
All that said, I'm still bearish on the liklehood of it all at the present time, but there are some wild cards out there for sure.

Scuzi, a break in the action.
Guys, please take the time to complete the latest Rotation Construction Survey. I'm not sure if it has any effect at all, but for all us 10.3 hour credit red eye *****s in LA, can it hurt?
Grazie. Back to your regularly scheduled underboob, hiring rumors and RJ bashing.

The MD90 has triple spool 28K motors while the lame 738 has twin spool 26k motors...
clearly the MD90 is superior in every way!
Sometimes it's not all about specs, sometimes its all about integration. Seem from your love letters to the Maddog you understand that pretty well...
BTW, I use the "failed attempt" every day and happy to not have cable. I've never did play games on it either...
Cheers
George
Has someone come back to the keyboard after a few? After all, this isn't the company's social media site is it? If so....errr...that was my brother who posted the underboob. And I didn't give him my password...he hacked into my account. (Anthony Weiner and Lumberg references there = bonus points).
Wasn't "DP" last night though. I don't care who it is, it's common knowledge (look how well Boomer does from a much more shall we say "controversial" position) that it's poor form to discuss internal topics as an outsider. You and I don't necessarily agree on "internal topics" but you and I are both members in good standing who currently are part of the organization... We actually understand what the reality is and have the ability to vote, volunteer, and submit resolutions to affect real change. When juniorbus flows and finishes probation, by all means he has every right to critize, because he will be part of the organization... Until then he needs to understand his place (this is much more than "one post" from a few days ago ).
It's less than a week until college football season, you have any new cheerleader pics?
