No matter how you try to play with the math, the average will not converge on 65, just like the previous average didn't converge on 60. It will be at least a year and probably 2 years early when the averages shake out (even without the early retirements).

I've moved up almost 700 numbers in seniority since the merger, and that is with zero projected retirements and about 300ish early outs.

As you know, unless we increase block hrs, a reduction of pilots above you does not benefit you.

In all seriousness, maintaining block hours while reducing pilots ahead of you be good for you? Because each pilot ahead of you would be replaced by one behind you.

And further, even a proportional reduction in block hours would be a good thing as long as it happens with pilots leaving ahead of you and doesn't cause furloughs. You could, hypothetically, go from #9000 of 10000 to #500 of 1500. Still 1000 pilots behind you, but you went from a junior FO to mid-level captain.

We're reducing block hours and not replacing pilots lost currently.

That said, with the AD's and Boeing and LUV asking for more time since they don't have the kits, I would not be surprised in the least to see the delivery schedule get delayed and modified a few times.
May I suggest a polyethylene composite, scrim backed, pressure sensitive tape that we've been testing over at Douglas? This method has been used in the Douglas space division (really true, remember when the Apollo 13 astronautics made the CO2 canister mod ... every space ship has Duct tape on board) Here's the prototype phase:

After a little practice; structural, interference and chemical resistance were assured through testing. The repair methodology was ready for flight test.

There, fixed it!

So you're moving up. Eventually you'll be #1 with pilots still behind you.

Sure. Here's a picture of Boomer putting his moves on McKayla in 2 years.

I thought SWA couldn't wait to get rid of the 717. Otherwise why pay DL to take them? As for the AD kits, DL could take delivery of them as kits become available, while SWA gets endless AD relief for the ones they still operate as per their Most Favored Airline agreement with the FAA.
